PREPARE

NOTE
See the service manual of the year and model vehicle that the service is being performed on for the following steps.
Remove seat.
2. Handrail models: See Figure 1. Leaving handrail assembly (2) in place, remove handrail screws (1) and discard hardware.
3. Grab strap models: Remove grab strap and discard hardware.
4. Remove left side cover.
5. Remove battery.
6. 2009 - 2018 models: Remove Bank Angle Sensor (BAS) bracket screws (3) and discard hardware.

INSTALLATION
1.
NOTE
Only use the specified screw to install the front mounting bracket to the BAS bracket.
See Figure 2. Install front mounting bracket (7).
a. 2009 - 2018 models: Holding the BAS bracket in place, install the front mounting bracket (7) using flange screws (8). Tighten.
Torque: 8.1–12.2 N·m (72–108 in-lbs)
b. 2019 - Present models: Install front mounting bracket (7) using flange screws (8) and flange nuts (6). Tighten.
Torque: 8.1–12.2 N·m (72–108 in-lbs)
2. Install the backrest mounting bracket (3).
NOTE
It may take a few adjustment to meet rides comfort when installing the backrest mounting bracket.
a. Handrail models: With the backrest mounting bracket in place use the flange screws (1) to install. Tighten.
Torque: 7–11 N·m (62–97 in-lbs)
b. Grab strap models: With the backrest mounting bracket in place, position the grab strap and using the flange screws (1) to install both mounting bracket and grab strap. Tighten.
Torque: 7–11 N·m (62–97 in-lbs)
3. See Figure 3. Install support bracket (2).
a. Position the support bracket on backrest mounting bracket and the front mounting bracket.
b. Using bolt (3) and the locking flange nut (7) loosely install the support bracket on the backrest mounting bracket.
c. Using flange screw (6) and flange nut (5) install the support bracket on the support bracket. Tighten.
Torque: 8.1 N·m (71.7 in-lbs)
d. Tighten bolt (3) and locking flange nut (7).
Torque: 20.3 N·m (15.0 ft-lbs)
