This kit fits all 2000 and later Softail® models except those equipped with Oil Cooler Kit 62913-00 or Cylinder Base Cover, Part Number 32753-01.
INSTALLATION
NOTE
Perform this installation when the engine is cool. Installing the oil filter cover when the engine is hot could result in personal injury.
WARNINGTo prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect battery cables (negative (-) cable first) before proceeding. (00307a)
WARNINGDisconnect negative (-) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury. (00049a)
NOTE
See the Figure 6 for fastener sizes and locations, and washer placement.
| 1. | Disconnect the battery cables, negative cable first. |

| 2. | See Figure 1. Remove and save the two screws (1) fastening the voltage-regulator bracket (2) to the motorcycle chassis. For installation, note the ground wire connection (3) on one of the screws. Note the ground wire connection to the indicated screw for installation. | |||||||||||||
| 3. | See Figure 1. Keep the ground wire in position and place the oil-cover mounting bracket (4) over the voltage-regulator mounting holes on the motorcycle chassis. | |||||||||||||
| 4. | Fasten the voltage-regulator bracket over the oil-cover mounting bracket as shown. Be sure to fasten the ground wire removed in step 2 to the location from which it was removed. Tighten the screws to 7.9–11.3 N·m (70–100 in-lbs). |

| 5. | See Figure 2. Remove and discard the screw fastening the crank-position sensor (1) to the engine. | |||||||||||||
| 6. | Fasten the crank-position sensor to the engine using the oil-filter-cover mounting stud (2) and wave washer (3) provided. Torque the stud to 10.2–13.6 N·m (90–120 in-lbs). |

| 7. | See Figure 3. Loosely fasten the left-side filter cover (1) to the stud using the nylon washer (2), wave washer (3), and acorn nut (4) as shown. Locate the crank-position sensor wire (5) under the recess in the side cover. |

| 8. | See Figure 4. Loosely fasten the left-side filter cover (1) to the mounting bracket (2) using the screw (3), wave washer (4), and nylon washer (5) as shown. |

| 9. | See Figure 5. Loosely fasten the right-side filter cover (1) to the left-side filter cover (2) and to the mounting bracket (3) using the screw (4), wave washer (5), and nylon washer (6) as shown. | |||||||||||||
| 10. | Tighten the screws to 4.5 N·m (40 in-lbs). Tighten the acorn nut to 3.4 N·m (30 in-lbs). NOTE Note the oil filter cover fastener sequence for removal and installation each time oil is changed. The oil-filter cover must be removed to change the oil filter. The oil filter cover bracket and crank-position-sensor stud do not need to be removed. | |||||||||||||

| 11. | Reconnect the battery cables, positive cable first. |
