WARNINGRider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)

INSTALLATION
| 1. | Refer to the applicable Service Manual for stock seat removal instructions. |

| 2. | See Figure 2. To install kit on Dyna Glide models, except FXDWG, reuse the existing seat bracket (1) and bolts (2). To install kit on FXDWG models, replace the rear seat bracket (1) with the seat bracket from the kit. Reuse the original bracket bolts (2). |

| 3. | See Figure 3. Remove passenger strap bolt (1), 5/16 x 11/16 x 1/16 washer (2), 5/16 x 1-1/8 x 1/16 washer (3) and passenger strap (4). Note how strap ends are folded and washer positions. | |||||||||
| 4. | Fold ends of kit passenger strap so holes are aligned. Secure strap to frame with hardware from kit. NOTE When performing the following procedures, be careful not to scratch painted surfaces (fender, tank, etc.) with metal tabs on seat. | |||||||||
| 5. | Slip rear of seat through passenger strap. Raise rear of seat and slide seat forward so front seat bracket engages frame bracket. | |||||||||
| 6. | See Figure 4. On 1996 models, except FXDWG, place nylon washer (9) under rear seat bracket. On 1996 FXDWG use guide washer (7) under rear seat bracket. On all 1997-2003 models, nylon washers are not needed. NOTE On rear fenders of 1997-2003 models, a captive nut secured with a plastic retention washer has replaced the previously used weld nut. Do not remove the plastic retention washer unless the captive nut is damaged and must be replaced. | |||||||||
| 7. | Install supplied Phillips screw (1) through rear fender seat bracket and, if applicable, nylon washer. Secure screw to fender. |
WARNINGAfter installing seat, pull upward on seat to be sure it is locked in position. While riding, a loose seat can shift causing loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00070b)
