INSTALLATION
1. Block the motorcycle underneath the frame so the front wheel is raised off the ground. Reaching under the fender, remove and discard the two hex locknuts and washers holding the right-side front-fender trim strip to the fender.
2. If necessary, slightly loosen the fender tip lamp or trim housing to free the forward edge of the trim strips. Remove the trim strip from the fender, taking care not to scratch the finish with the ends of the strip or the tee bolts on the back side. The trim strip and tee bolts can be discarded.
3. Models without fender tip lamp: Remove the left-side front-fender trim strip in the same way. Models with fender tip lamp: Remove and discard the two hex locknuts and washers holding the trim strip to the fender. Leaving the tee bolt threads in the fender holes. carefully slide the trim strip to the rear until the front tee bolt is free of the channel on the back side of the strip. Pull the fender tip lamp wire harness out of the trim strip channel. Discard the trim strip and tee bolts.
4. See the Figure 1. Obtain one fender trim strip (1) and two tee bolts (2) from the kit. Slide the tee bolts into the channel on the back side of the trim strip.
5. Position the trim strip to the right side of the fender. Line up the tee bolts with the trim strip mounting holes in the fender, and insert the threaded end of both bolts through the holes. Install the trim strip to the fender with two flat washers (4) and hex lock nuts (3) from the kit, but do not fully tighten at this time.
6. Models without fender tip lamp: Install the left-side front-fender trim strip in the same manner. Proceed to Step 8. Models with fender tip lamp: Obtain the remaining fender trim strip (1) and tee bolts (2) from the kit. Slide one tee bolt into the channel on the back side of the trim strip. Position the trim strip to the left side of the fender. Line up the tee bolt with the rearmost hole in the fender, and insert the wire harness into the forward part of the channel on the back side of the trim strip.
7. Slide the remaining tee bolt into the channel, capturing the wire harness in the channel behind the head. Line up the tee bolt with the forward hole in the fender, and insert the threaded end of both bolts through the holes. Make sure the wires or conduit are clear of the hole edge, and are not pinched between the fender and trim strip. Install the trim strip to the fender with the remaining flat washers (4) and hex lock nuts (3) from the kit, but do not fully tighten at this time.
8. If loosened in Step 2, tighten the fender tip lamp or trim housing screws and nuts to 2.3–2.7 N·m (20–24 in-lbs). Slide the fender trim strips forward to fit properly into the fender tip housing. Tighten the fender trim strip lock nuts to 1.1–1.7 N·m (10–15 in-lbs).
