INSTALLATION
NOTE
Refer to Figure 1.
  • If the Tour-Pak has a cable brace (6) bracket on the right inner surface of the Tour-Pak, begin at Step 1.
  • If Tour-Pak does not have a cable brace (6) bracket on the right inner surface, begin installation at Step 4.
  • If the Tour-Pak cover already has six drilled mounting holes for a backrest, begin the installation at Step 6.
1. Use the existing holes in the cable brace bracket as a template and, from the inside, drill two 5/16 in. diameter holes through the fiberglass wall of the cover.
2. See Figure 2. Obtain the template (7) from the kit, and hold in position on the outside front of the Tour-Pak cover. Align the two right side holes on the template with the holes drilled at the cable brace bracket, and tape the template in place. Use a lead or grease pencil to mark the remaining four hole locations on the outside of the Tour-Pak cover
3. Drill four 5/16 in. diameter holes at the marked locations. Proceed to Step 6.
4. Obtain the template (7) from the kit, and hold in position, centered on the outside front of the Tour-Pak cover. Tape the template in place. Use a lead or grease pencil to mark the six hole locations on the outside of the Tour-Pak cover.
5. Drill six 5/16 in. diameter holes at the marked locations.

6. See Figure 1. Align the six studs (1) on the backrest (2) with the drilled holes in the Tour-Pak cover, and insert the studs through the holes. Place the plastic backing plate (3) over the two center studs inside the cover. Place the steel backing plate (4) onto the two center studs, and fasten with two 1/4-20 flanged locknuts (5) from the kit.
7. Fasten the four remaining studs with 1/4-20 flanged locknuts. Torque locknuts to 7.9–9 N·m (70–80 in-lbs).
8. On some Tour-Paks, there are two small holes located just below the front top edge of the Tour-Pak base. If the Tour-Pak has these holes, insert the rubber plugs (8) from the kit through the holes from the outside of the Tour-Pak. Use a pliers to pull the plug flanges through the holes to the inside. Inspect to make sure that the flange is completely through the hole. If the Tour-Pak does not have these holes, discard the plugs.
9. Close the Tour-Pak cover and check for proper backrest alignment.
