Separate purchase of LOCTITE® 271 Threadlocker and Sealant - Red is required for proper installation of this kit. LOCTITE can be purchased from any Harley-Davidson Dealer.

INSTALLATION
NOTE
When removing footpeg mounting screws, use a 10-inch or longer extension to avoid damaging cosmetic surfaces.
1. See Figure 1. Remove right side footpeg mounting screw and slide the mount out through the brake lever. Save screw for installation.
2. See Figure 2. Remove screw securing left side footpeg mount. Slide the mount out through shift lever and remove. Save screw for installation.

3. See Figure 3. Remove the retaining ring and clevis pin from the footpeg. Remove the footpeg and spring clip. Save the spring clip and discard the footpeg mount, retaining ring and clevis pin. Repeat for other footpeg.
4. Align the footpeg and spring clip with new footpeg mount. Install new clevis pin. Install new retaining ring. Repeat for other footpeg.
WARNING
Footrests must fold up and toward rear of motorcycle if struck. Failure to set footrests to fold up and back could result in death or serious injury. (00366a)
5. Slide right footpeg mount through the brake lever and into frame. Make sure the brake lever is positioned properly. Rotate the footpeg until screw mounting holes are aligned.
6. Apply a few drops of Loctite 271 onto threads of footpeg mounting screw. Tighten screw to 14 N·m (10 ft-lbs).
7. Slide left footpeg mount through the shift lever and into frame. Make sure the shift lever is positioned properly. Rotate the footpeg until screw mounting holes are aligned.
8. Apply a few drops of Loctite 271 to threads of mounting screw and install the screw. Tighten screw to 14 N·m (10 ft-lbs).
WARNING
After repairing the brake system, test brakes at low speed. If brakes are not operating properly, testing at high speeds can cause loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00289a)
9. Test ride and check rear brake for proper operation.
10. Check for proper shift lever operation.
