  • 1994 and later FXDS-CONV model motorcycles with rigid mount sideplates
  • 1982 through 1994 FXR models with rigid sideplates except FXRS-CONV and FXRT.
  • 1999 and later FXDX models (Kit No. 53852-00 only).
NOTE
Model years 1994 and later FXDS-CONV motorcycles with original equipment side plates require spacer kit Part No. 53828-00 to complete installation.

INSTALLATION
  1. Remove and discard the screws securing sissy bar to sissy bar sideplates.
  2. For all models listed earlier, except for FXDS-CONV, proceed as follows:
    1. See Figure 1. Position luggage rack (3) between sideplates of sissy bar assembly.
    2. Thread 1/4-28 x 1-3/8 in. screws (1) through holes in sissy bar sideplate, sissy bar and luggage rack support.
    3. Retain with 1/4-28 in. locknuts (2).
  3. For 1994 and later FXDS-CONV, proceed as follows:
    1. Position luggage rack between sissy bar assembly sideplates.
    2. Position spacers, from kit 53828-00, between sissy bar and luggage rack. To aid in installation, align and retain clearance hole, spacer and rack during screw installation.
    3. Thread 1/4-28 x 1-1/2 in screws, from kit 53828-00, through holes in sideplate, sissy bar, spacer and luggage rack. Retain with 1/4-28 locknuts provided with rack (2).
  4. Tighten hardware installed in steps 2 and 3.
