INSTALLATION
NOTE
It is not necessary to loosen the axle nut when installing these covers.
The axle-nut covers and set screws are side-specific.
Installing the Right-Side Cover
  1. Obtain the right-side cover (large bore) and the shorter set screw from the kit.
  2. Thread the set screw half way into the hole from the outside, and position the cover over the end of the axle.
  3. Obtain the hex key (Allen wrench) from the kit, and tighten the set screw securely.
Installing the Left-Side Cover
  1. Obtain the left-side cover (small bore) and the longer set screw from the kit. See Figure 1. Locate the set screw mounting hole and, using a toothpick, pry the inboard rubber band up and out of its groove, then roll it back onto the knurled surface between the bands. This will provide access to install the set screw.
  2. Thread the set screw half way into the hole from the outside, and position the cover over the axle nut.
  3. Obtain the hex key from the kit, and tighten the set screw securely.
  4. Roll the rubber band back squarely into the inboard groove in the cover.
SERVICE PARTS
The rubber bands (Part Number 11305) are serviceable items, available individually from any Harley-Davidson Dealer.
