Kit Contents
See Figure 3 and Table 1.
NOTE
Models equipped with Stainless Steel Braided Clutch Cable (Part No. 38660-00A) require the installation of Clutch Cable Guide Kit (Part No. 38674-01.) This kit must be purchased separately and is available at your Harley-Davidson Dealer.
INSTALLATION
1. Remove the air baffle from the lower triple clamp. This will improve the airflow and rider comfort.
2. Relocate the clutch cable from the back of the engine guard to the front of the engine guard as follows:
a. Slide rubber boot off cable adjuster. Adjuster is located approximately halfway along clutch cable by the front frame downtube.
b. Holding cable adjuster with 1/2 inch wrench, loosen jam nut using a 9/16 inch wrench. Back jam nut away from cable adjuster. Move adjuster toward jam nut to introduce a large amount of freeplay at the hand lever.
c. Remove small snap ring from pivot pin groove at bottom of clutch lever bracket. Remove pivot pin and clutch hand lever from bracket.
d. Remove screw and P-clamp that holds clutch cable to front fork and route clutch cable from the back of the engine guard to the front of the engine guard. Reattach P-clamp and clutch cable to front fork. Reconnect clutch cable to clutch lever by reversing step c.
e. Turn cable adjuster away from jam nut until slack is eliminated at hand lever. Pull clutch cable ferrule away from clutch lever bracket to check free play. Turn cable adjuster as necessary to obtain 1/16 to 1/8 inch (1.6-3.2 mm) free play between end of cable ferrule and clutch lever bracket as shown in Figure 1.
f. Hold adjuster with 1/2 inch wrench. Using 9/16 inch wrench, tighten jam nut against cable adjuster. Cover cable adjuster mechanism with rubber boot.

3. See Figure 3. Replace the fairing bottom mounting bracket clamp with new clamp (3) from kit. Make sure the center clamp hole is outboard as shown in illustration. Fasten clamp to bracket with original screws so inboard side of clamp is flush with bracket. Secure clamp to bracket around engine guard. Make sure inboard side of clamp and bracket is 5-1/4 in. from vehicle frame.
NOTE
See Figure 2. Orient the fairing mounting bracket clamps so the threaded hole in the center slants upward toward the front of the motorcycle.
4. See Figure 3. Place large clamp (1) around engine guard so flat side of clamp is up and tabs point toward rear of vehicle.
5. Position fairing lower in area between engine guard and vehicle. Lower goes in from behind engine guard.
6. Attach top of fairing lower to bottom fairing mounting bracket clamp (3) (from Step 2) with screw (9), 1/4 in. external tooth lockwasher (5) (next to screw head), and 1/4 in. flat washer (4) from hardware kit. Tighten securely.
7. Attach fairing lower cap (12 or 13) to fairing lower with black screws (8) from hardware kit. Tighten securely.

8. Fasten bottom of fairing lower to engine guard with clamp (1) (from Step 3) and hardware in the following order: screw (2), fairing lower, rubber washer (6), clamp (1) and flanged locknut (7). Tighten securely.
9. Repeat Steps 2 through 7 for opposite side of vehicle.
10. Using cable tie (14), loosely attach clutch cable to engine guard between the tops of the fairing lowers. Be sure cable tie is not tight enough to cause binding.
