Disconnect negative (-) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury. (00049a) | ||
| 1. | Remove the seat, according to Service Manual instructions. NOTE These mounts may be installed during the installation of the Custom Mini Tach. Kits or the mounts may be added after the Tach. Kits have been installed. Continue at the following procedure that applies: |
| 1. | See Figure 2. Loosen four screws (2 and 3) of handlebar upper clamp (4). | |||||||||
| 2. | Raise handlebars to normal riding position; hold in position. Lightly tighten all four screws so gap between lower clamp and tach mount is equal at front and rear. | |||||||||
| 3. | Tighten front screws (3) to 12-15 ft-lbs (16-20 Nm) torque. | |||||||||
| 4. | Tighten rear screws (2) to 12-15 ft-lbs (16-20 Nm) torque. A slight gap between upper and lower clamps should exist at front and rear. |

After installing seat, pull upward on seat to be sure it is locked in position. While riding, a loose seat can shift causing loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00070b) | ||||||||||
| 6. | Reinstall the seat. |
