This Flamed Exhaust Heat Shields kit fits 1999-later Touring models with stock exhaust pipes.

INSTALLATION
Remove Original Equipment (OE) Heat Shields
WARNING
Avoid contact with exhaust system and wear protective clothing that completely covers legs while riding. Exhaust pipes and mufflers get very hot when engine is running and remain too hot to touch, even after engine is turned off. Failure to wear protective clothing could result in burns or other serious injury. (00009a)
  1. Allow motorcycle to cool.
  2. Identify the position of the OE clamp screws securing heat shields to exhaust pipes.
    3. NOTE
    The clamp screws are positioned on either side of the exhaust pipe for clearance.
  3. See Figure 1. Open the band clamps (1) and spread the bands to remove heat shields (2) from the exhaust pipes.
    1. Remove front heat shield.
    2. Remove rear heat shield.
    3. Remove crossover heat shield.
Install Flamed Heat Shields
1. See the Service Parts illustration. Matching the OE positions of the clamp screws, open the kit band clamps (1) and thread the bands through the brackets of the front (4), rear (3, and crossover (2) flamed heat shields.
2. Spread the bands around the exhaust pipes and push the end of the bands to engage the clamp screws. Tighten to hold the heat shields in place.
3. Adjust shields and band clamps to access clamp screws and to avoid contact with other components.
NOTICE
Wipe all fingerprints off of exhaust system components after installation and before starting engine. Oil from hands can leave permanent marks on exhaust system finish. (00346a)
4. Tighten clamp screws.
