1. | See Figure 1. Install the new or existing sissy bar (2) to the detachable sideplates (1) using four buttonhead screws (3) from the kit. Apply Loctite 243 (blue) to the screw threads before installation. Tighten the screws to 11–14 N·m (96–120 in-lbs). NOTE Check alignment as shown in Figure 3. Properly align the docking points and sideplates to prevent damaging the rear docking points. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2. | See Figure 2. While standing behind the motorcycle, place the front sideplate notches (1) into the front docking points (2) as shown in the top side plate view. See Figure 3 for views of correct and incorrect sideplate engagement. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3. | See Figure 2. Pull the rotary latches (3) back into their rearmost position as shown in center side plate view. Position the rotary latches over the rear docking points (4), making certain the latches and sideplates fit into the neck of the rear docking points as shown in the bottom latch view. This may require some gentle squeezing or spreading of the sideplates. |

4. | Push downward on the sideplates, and close the rotary latches by pressing the latch lever as far forward as it will go as shown in the lower sideplate view. You will hear a click when the latch is in place. If the latch does not easily close, do not force it. Recheck alignment as described in Step 2 and Figure 3. |
