Additional Parts Required
FLHT models will require prior installation of an Advanced Audio AM/FM/CD Radio Kit (part number 76412-06) and an AM/FM Antenna Kit (part number 76325-06 or 76251-98).
FLHT, FLHTC, FLHTCU and FLHX models will require the additional purchase of a right side Antenna Bracket (part number 76455-06).
FLT models will require the additional purchase of an Antenna Bracket (part number 76316-06A).
These items are available from a Harley-Davidson Dealer.

Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. This instruction sheet references Service Manual information. A Service Manual for your model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from a Harley-Davidson Dealer.
Electrical Overload
NOTICE
It is possible to overload the vehicle's charging system by adding too many electrical accessories. If the combined electrical accessories operating at any one time consume more electrical current than the vehicle's charging system can produce, the electrical consumption can discharge the battery and cause damage to the vehicle's electrical system. WARNING
When installing any electrical accessory, be certain not to exceed the maximum amperage rating of the fuse or circuit breaker protecting the affected circuit being modified. Exceeding the maximum amperage can lead to electrical failures, which could result in death or serious injury. (00310a)
The GPS requires up to 400 milliamps additional current from the electrical system.

PRE-INSTALLATION
Prior to the installation of the GPS Navigation Kit, the radio software must be validated and, if necessary, updated using the navigation CD from this kit.
Follow the steps found under RADIO SOFTWARE VALIDATION/ UPDATE PROCEDURE in this Instruction Sheet.
INSTALLATION
WARNING
To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, remove main fuse before proceeding. (00251b)
1. Refer to the Service Manual and follow the instructions given to remove the Maxi® Fuse.
2. Remove the outer fairing and windshield. Refer to OUTER FAIRING/ WINDSHIELD REMOVAL in the Service Manual.
3. See Figure 1. Remove the two screws (2) that retain the cover plate (1) to the back of the radio.
NOTE
The GPS navigation module (3) fits into the chamber only one way. DO NOT FORCE. The blue connector (4) on the end of the module should be to the top.

4. Gently slide the GPS navigation module into the chamber until it stops. Push the module in, about 1/8 inch (3 mm) to fully seat.
5. Fasten the module to the radio with the two screws removed earlier. Tighten securely.
6. Obtain the antenna bracket (purchased separately). FLH models: See Figure 2. Remove the fairing mounting screw (2) at the top of the right side fairing support bracket (1). Clip the antenna bracket (3) over the top edge of the support bracket, and fasten the antenna bracket through the support bracket to the inner fairing with the screw removed earlier. Tighten to 20-30 in-lbs (2.3-3.4 Nm). FLT models: See Figure 3. Remove the right side radio mounting screws (2). Position the antenna bracket (3) to the side of the radio carrier bracket (1) with the top plate horizontal, lining up two of the diagonal holes in the antenna bracket with the radio mounting holes. Fasten the antenna bracket through the radio carrier bracket to the radio with the screws removed earlier. Tighten to 35-45 in-lbs (4.0-5.1 Nm).

7. All models: Obtain the GPS antenna (4) and alcohol wipe (5) from the kit. Use the alcohol wipe to thoroughly clean the inscribed diagram area on the horizontal antenna mounting surface of the antenna bracket.
8. Peel the liner from the adhesive backing of the antenna base.
9. Position the antenna over the diagram on the bracket without touching the adhesive to the bracket. Center the antenna over the diagram with the antenna cable toward the radio.
10. Press the antenna squarely and firmly onto the bracket, and hold pressure for about 60 seconds. After releasing pressure, avoid direct contact with the antenna for about 20 minutes.
11. Insert the blue connector on the antenna cable into the mating blue connector on the back of the GPS navigation module.
12. Use cable straps from the kit to tie the antenna wire to the existing harnesses inside the fairing and loop the excess wire together.
13. Install the outer fairing and windshield. Refer to OUTER FAIRING/ WINDSHIELD INSTALLATION in the Service Manual.
14. Verify that the Ignition/ Light Key Switch is in the OFF position. Refer to the Service Manual and follow the instructions given to install the Maxi Fuse.
15. Refer to the Owner's Manual for the GPS Navigation System and follow the instructions to initialize the system.

RADIO SOFTWARE VALIDATION/UPDATE PROCEDURE
Prior to installing the GPS Navigation Kit, validate the radio software and update if necessary by following these procedures:
1. Turn the Ignition/ Light Key Switch to the ACCESS or ACCESSORY position. See Figure 5. Press the ON pushbutton (1) to turn the Advanced Audio AM/FM/CD Radio Receiver ON, and press the "Soft Key" (2) "2" to select the FM mode on the function display (4). Lift the protective door and press the EJECT button (5) to eject any CD that may be in the reader, then press the ON pushbutton to turn the receiver OFF.

2. Turn the receiver ON, and while the Harley-Davidson Bar and Shield appears in the display, hold down the soft keys "1" and "2" until the menu in Figure 6 appears.
3. Select soft key "4" (Software). The display will change to read as shown in Figure 7. Note the software currently loaded on the radio.
a. If line 2 and line 3 display v7.4.0 or newer (for example, v7.4.1, v7.5.0, v8.0.0 or greater), then no updating is necessary. Proceed to INSTALLATION on Page 1.
b. If, however, line 2 or line 3 display a version older than v7.4.0 (for example, v7.3.9 or v6.9.9 or less), continue with the update procedures.

4. Select soft key "5/ LEFT arrow" (Update). The display will change to read as shown in Figure 8.

5. Insert any navigation CD from the kit. The display will change to read as shown in Figure 9 as the files are downloaded from the CD. This process will take approximately seven minutes.

6. Once the radio update has been completed, the radio display will indicate SUCCESSFUL, and will power down, then up.
7. Press the ON button to turn the radio OFF.
8. Turn the receiver ON, and while the Harley-Davidson Bar and Shield appears in the display, hold down the soft keys "1" and "2" until the menu in Figure 6 again appears. Select soft key "4" (Software). Line 2 and line 3 should now read "ST 10 v7.4.0" and "TMS320 v7.4.0".
a. If the display reads correctly, continue with the update procedures.
b. If either line reads differently, start the update procedure over again at Step 1.
9. Select soft key "6" (Exit).
10. Select and hold soft keys "1" and "3" (see Figure 5 ), and at the same time press the OK button (7). The display will change to read as shown in Figure 10. Use the UP arrow (6) to scroll up to the display that reads as shown in Figure 11.

11. Select soft key "2" (ROM Dflt). Display line 3 should read "EE ROM Default".
12. Select soft key "1" (Get Ver.). Display line 3 should change to read "EE Version 1E".
a. If the display reads correctly, continue with the update procedures.
b. If the line does not read "1E", repeat Steps 11 and 12.
13. Select soft key "4" (Test CS). Display line 3 should read "EE CkSum: OK".
a. If the display reads correctly, continue to the next step.
b. If the display reads "Failed", select soft key "5" (Fix CS). Check by again selecting soft key "4" (Test CS). Display line 3 should read "EE CkSum: OK". Repeat this step until "EE CkSum: OK" appears, then continue to the next step.
14. Eject the CD. Turn the Ignition/ Light Key Switch to OFF. Proceed to INSTALLATION on Page 1.
