Additional Parts Required
For FXST, FXSTB, and FXSTS with passenger footrests: Separate purchase of a Hex Spacer Kit (49352-00) is required for proper installation of this kit. The Hex Spacer Kit is not required if this Toolbox Kit is installed on models with a Passenger Footboard Kit (50602-00). These kits are available at a Harley-Davidson dealer.
NOTE
Lock mechanism accepts all Harley-Davidson barrel-style ignition keys.
INSTALLATION
NOTE
Be careful not to scratch toolbox surface while performing this installation.
| 1. | See Figure 1. Attach toolbox (1) to toolbox mounting bracket (3) using three pan head screws (4) and hex nuts (5). | |
| 2. | Loosen two screws (A) and remove two screws (B) that secure right rear fender support (C) to frame (D). Save screws for kit installation. | |
| 3. | For all 2006 models with passenger footrests:For models with passenger footboards:For all 2007 models with passenger footrests: a. See Figure 1. Remove locknut (E), screw (F), spring washer (G) and footrest (H). b. Remove screw (I) that secures footrest support (J) to frame (D). c. Remove and save two bolts, nuts and washers that secure bottom of splash guard to swingarm. This will allow the splash guard to move when installing new passenger footrest bolt. d. See Figure 1. Remove screw that secures passenger footboard assembly to frame (D). e. Remove footboard assembly. Refer to Passenger Footboard Kit (50602-00) for instructions. Note orientation of footboard for kit installation. Save parts for kit installation. f. See Figure 1. Remove retaining ring (K), clevis pin (L), spring washer (G) and footrest (H). g. Remove screw (I) that secures the footrest support (J) to the frame (D). h. Remove two bolts, nuts and washers that secure bottom of splash guard to swingarm. This will allow the splash guard to move when installing new passenger footrest bolt. Save all parts for kit installation. | |
| 4. | Install toolbox mounting bracket as follows: a. Slide top of toolbox mounting bracket (3) between rear fender support (C) and frame (D). b. Slide large holes in toolbox mounting bracket over spacers on fender support. c. Align lower bracket hole with footrest mounting hole in frame. d. Install two screws (B) that were removed in Step 2 through fender support (C) and into frame (D) but do not tighten at this time. | |
 WARNINGFootrests must fold up and toward rear of motorcycle if struck. Failure to set footrests to fold up and back could result in death or serious injury. (00366a) | ||
| 5. | For models with passenger footrests:For models with passenger footboards: a. See Figure 1. Install Hex Spacer Kit (49352-00) following instructions included with that kit, and install the footrest support (J), and footrest (H) on top of toolbox mounting bracket (3). b. Install two bolts, nuts and washers from Step 3c and secure bottom of splash guard to swingarm. c. See Figure 1. Place Footboard Assembly (from Kit 50602-00) on top of toolbox mounting bracket (3) in same orientation prior to removal. d. Install screw removed in Step 3a and tighten to 47.5–61 N·m (35–45 ft-lbs). NOTE Before tightening fender support hardware make sure that large holes in toolbox bracket are properly installed over the spacers on the fender support. | |
| 6. | Tighten fender support screws (A, B) to 28.5–36.6 N·m (21–27 ft-lbs). NOTE Maximum toolbox weight capacity is 5 lbs (2.25 Kg). |
