NOTE
Electra-Glo light pods are designed and intended for display use only. Some local regulations prohibit the use of indirect lighting while the vehicle is operated on public streets and highways. Do not install light pods with the light source facing directly away from the vehicle. Installation should be done in a way that allows the light to be seen indirectly by reflecting from the chrome or painted surfaces of the vehicle. Check local regulations regarding vehicle operation with indirect lighting.
The Electra-Glo Light Pod Kit with 6 light pods requires 180 milliamps additional current from the electrical system. An expansion kit with 4 light pods requires 120 milliamps additional current from the electrical system.
Purple pods are red and blue LEDs installed in a single pod.
Light pods should not be located closer than 2.5 in. (63.5 mm) from exhaust pipes or mufflers and must have 1.5 in. (38.1 mm) clearance from engine cylinders and heads.
Installation of light pods and switch/dimmer controller to surfaces below 50° F (10° C) is not recommended.
NOTICE
It is possible to overload the vehicle's charging system by adding too many electrical accessories. If the combined electrical accessories operating at any one time consume more electrical current than the vehicle's charging system can produce, the electrical consumption can discharge the battery and cause damage to the vehicle's electrical system. (00211d)
WARNING
When installing any electrical accessory, be certain not to exceed the maximum amperage rating of the fuse or circuit breaker protecting the affected circuit being modified. Exceeding the maximum amperage can lead to electrical failures, which could result in death or serious injury. (00310a)

INSTALLATION
Prepare the Motorcycle
1. Follow Owner's Manual instructions to remove side panels, seat or air box cover to access the battery.
NOTE
The battery may be located under the seat, or in the case of V-Rod® models, at the front of the air box between the frame tubes.
WARNING
Disconnect negative (-) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury. (00049a)
2. Remove the negative (-) battery cable from the battery.
3. Remove the positive (+) battery cable from battery.
Locate and Install Switch/Dimmer Controller
NOTE
Do not mount the switch in a location where the suspension travel could result in contact with the switch. This may cause damage to the switch/dimmer controller will occur.
1. Locate the switch/dimmer control box on a flat surface that allows the red (+) and black (-) leads to reach the battery terminals and the rider to access the controls.
2. Peel the backing from the adhesive and press firmly into position.
WARNING
Connect positive (+) battery cable first. If positive (+) cable should contact ground with negative (-) cable connected, the resulting sparks can cause a battery explosion, which could result in death or serious injury. (00068a)
3. Install the positive (+) battery cable with the red (+) lead ring terminal to the positive (+) battery terminal. Tighten to Owner's Manual specifications.
4. Install the negative (-) battery cable with the black (-) lead ring terminal to the negative (-) battery terminal. Tighten to Owner's Manual specifications.
Lay Out the Electra-Glo Light Pods
NOTE
Electra-Glo light pods can be installed in a variety of locations. They are best installed on a flat surface as indirect lights, illuminating mechanical features, finish or for ground effects.
1. Select area or lines of motorcycle to highlight and the corresponding locations for light pods.
NOTE
Light pods should not be located closer than 2.5 in. (63.5 mm) from exhaust pipes or mufflers and must have 1.5 in. (38.1 mm) clearance from engine cylinders and heads.
2. Verify clearance from movement of rubber mounted engine or other moving parts, heat sources, or chafe points.
3. See Figure 1. Combine splice connectors to assemble a circuit in series with the light pods in the selected locations.
NOTE
Do not install a wire harness between the last pods in each string of light pods. Damage to the switch/dimmer controller will occur.

4. See Figure 2. Do Not install a harness between the two series of light pods. This will cause a short circuit and damage to the switch/dimmer controller will occur.
5. See Figure 3. Temporarily connect the splice connectors to the light pods and to the two socket connectors from the switch/dimmer.
NOTE
The switch/dimmer controller is a 2-way toggle switch with OFF and ON positions and a rotary switch that adjusts intensity.

6. In the dark, use the switch/dimmer to test the light pods and the effect of the indirect light.
7. Adjust the light pod locations and the combination of splice connectors as necessary.
8. When complete, separate the light pods from the splice connectors.

Install the Electra-Glo Light Pods
  1. Clean each attachment point with an isopropyl alcohol swab.
  2. Remove backing from the adhesive and press the light pods firmly into place.
  3. Smear dielectric grease on all connections and the switch/dimmer controller leads and reconnect the circuit.
  4. Bundle splice wire leads from the switch/dimmer controller. Use the wire retainers with cable ties to secure splice connectors.
Return the Motorcycle to Service
Follow Owner's Manual Instructions to install side panels, seat or air box cover as required.
NOTE
The circuit is protected by a 5 Amp glass fuse.
