Additional Parts Required
To ensure proper bonding of the adhesive between the damping panels and fender, use of a wallpaper corner roller (available at most home improvement stores) is highly recommended.
NOTE
This instruction sheet references Service Manual information. A Service Manual for your model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from a Harley-Davidson Dealer.
Kit Contents
See Figure 3 and Table 2.
INSTALLATION
NOTE
Thoroughly clean the underside of the fender to remove any debris, then wipe down the underside surfaces with alcohol to remove and grease or oil residue that might prevent the adhesive from properly bonding.
Use of a shop towel or other protective material between the fender and work surface is recommended to prevent damage to the painted surface while performing the following steps.
Before proceeding to Step 1 insert both front and rear fender inner brackets in fender; doing so will provide for better Damping Panel positioning. Do not allow Damping Panels to interfere with fender brackets.
1. See Figure 1. With the fender on its side (right side shown), place the right side damping panel in place so that the lower edge of damping panel is positioned next to the fender folded lip and that there is adequate clearance for front fender support bracket hole (1) and rear fender support bracket hole (2).

Figure 2. Release Tab
2. See Figure 1. With damping pad in position on fender; trace outline of damping pad onto fender surface with pencil.
3. See Figure 2. Remove damping pad and partially remove the adhesive release film by pulling down on release tab (1), and pulling the release film back and under (the tab gets removed in the process). Remove only about two inches initially.
NOTE
The next two step must be done carefully to ensure that the damping panel is in correct placement, and makes full contact with the fender.
4. Carefully place the damping pad (adhesive release film removed) end back on to the fender within the outline. Press lightly to tack the damping panel to the fender, and slowly remove the rest of the release film while pressing the damping panel to the fender inside the tracing.
5. Using a wallpaper corner roller and using firm pressure; roll and press the Damping Panel to purge the air from between the adhesive and fender.
NOTE
Do not rub the Damping Panel to make it adhere to the fender. This will not do an adequate job of purging the air from between the adhesive and fender. Once the adhesive is in place, it requires 72 hours to fully cure. Do NOT pull or try to reposition the Damping Panels during this period.
6. Repeat Steps one through five for the left side of fender using left side Inner Fender Damping Panel.
7. Refer to appropriate section of service manual and install the fender.
