A Service Manual for this year and model motorcycle MAY be needed for this installation (see the NOTE after Step 4), and is available from a Harley-Davidson Dealer.
Fresh, uncontaminated brake fluid MAY also be needed. Refer to your Owner's Manual or the Service Manual for this year and model motorcycle to determine the correct brake fluid for this vehicle.

INSTALLATION
1. See Figure 1. Support the right-side front brake caliper, and remove the upper (1) and lower (2) caliper mounting bolts. Save the bolts for re-installation.

3. Install a split rubber grommet (4) over the brake line (5), just above the caliper banjo fitting. DO NOT remove the brake line. Insert the grommet into the semicircular cutout in the outer caliper cover.

NOTE
It may be necessary to rotate the brake line for optimal positioning within the grommet. If so, refer to the Service Manual for your year and model vehicle for proper torque values and bleeding procedure.
5. See Figure 3. Install the inner brake caliper cover (2) under the outer cover (1) while simultaneously inserting the rubber grommet (3) into the corresponding cutout.
6. Install three screws (4) with wave washers (5) through the outer cover and into the inner cover as shown.
WARNING
After repairing the brake system, test brakes at low speed. If brakes are not operating properly, testing at high speeds can cause loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00289a)
7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 on the left side of the vehicle.
