| 1. | Refer to the service manual and follow the instructions given to remove the seat and disconnect the negative (black) battery cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Retain all seat mounting hardware. | |||||||||
| 2. | See Figure 1. Remove the currently installed primary chaincase cover (1) per service manual instructions. |

| 3. | Install the new primary chaincase cover per the instructions in the service manual using a new primary cover gasket (2, purchased separately) and the hardware removed earlier. | |||||||||
| 4. | Install the derby cover using the new gasket (3) from the gasket service kit (purchased separately) and the hardware removed earlier. | |||||||||
| 5. | Install the magnetic drain plug using the new O-ring (4) from the gasket service kit. Fill the primary chaincase with lubricant per the instructions in the service manual. NOTE Verify that the ignition/light key switch is in the OFF position before attaching the battery cable. | |||||||||
| 6. | Verify that the ignition/key switch is turned to the OFF position. Apply a light coat of Harley-Davidson electrical contact lubricant (Part Number 99861-02), petroleum jelly or corrosion retardant material to the negative battery terminal. Refer to the service manual and follow the instructions given to attach the negative battery cable. | |||||||||
After installing seat, pull upward on seat to be sure it is locked in position. While riding, a loose seat can shift causing loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00070b) | ||||||||||
