If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. INSTALLATION
NOTE
These grab rail kits can be installed over back rest kits 52587-09 and 52589-09.
| 1. | Remove seat using owner's manual instructions. | |
| 2. | Remove protective caps and nuts from stud plate. Save nuts for reuse. Leave plastic washers in place. | |
| 3. | Apply protective tape (3) to the fender to align with the studs. | |
| 4. | Install grab rail to stud plate and install nuts and tighten to 6.8–10.8 N·m (5–8 ft-lbs). | |
| WARNING After installing seat, pull upward on seat to be sure it is locked in position. While riding, a loose seat can shift causing loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00070b) | ||
