Additional Parts Required
Installation on FXSTD 17-inch wheels requires separate purchase of brake rotor hub plate (Part Number 43837-00).
For proper installation, Kit 44973-10 requires the use of Loctite® 243 Threadlocker and Sealant - Blue.
WARNINGRider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for your model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from a Harley-Davidson Dealer.
NOTICE
Do not re-use brake disc/rotor screws. Re-using these screws can result in torque loss and damage to brake components. (00319c)
INSTALLATION
| 1. | See the WHEEL section of the service manual for brake disc removal and disassembly procedures. | |
| 2. | For Kit 44973-10: See Figure 1. Assemble and install the new brake disc (1) as described in the WHEEL section of the service manual using the new screws (2). Place a few drops of Loctite 243 (blue) on the threads of the new chrome screws from the kit. Install the brake disc using ONLY the new chrome screws. Tighten screws to 33 N·m (24 ft-lbs). For All Other Kits: See Figure 1. Assemble and install the new brake disc (1) as described in the WHEEL section of the service manual using the new screws (2). Tighten the screws for front brake rotor (disc) kits to 22–33 N·m (16–24 ft-lbs). NOTE Avoid hard stops for 483 km (300 mi). Hard stops during wear-in period will gall brake discs. |
