Models
This pursuit lamp fits all Harley-Davidson original equipment and Genuine Motor Accessory auxiliary and pursuit lamps. It is a direct replacement for the original equipment (OE) pursuit lamp.
NOTE
This accessory must be removed when vehicle is sold for non-police use. Follow all applicable federal, state and local regulations when changing to a civilian vehicle.
INSTALLATION
NOTICE
Never touch the quartz bulb. Fingerprints will etch the glass and decrease bulb life. Handle the bulb with paper or a clean, dry cloth. Failure to do so could result in bulb damage. (00210b)
Models with main fuse:
WARNINGTo prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, remove main fuse before proceeding. (00251b)
- Refer to the owner's manual and follow the instructions to remove the main fuse.
Models with main circuit breaker:
WARNINGTo prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect negative (-) battery cable before proceeding. (00048a)
- Refer to the owner's manual and follow the instructions to remove the seat and disconnect the negative (black) battery cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Retain all seat mounting hardware.
| 1. | See Figure 1. Loosen the pursuit lamp bezel ring screw and lock nut (3) as required to pull the bezel ring (2) from the lip of the pursuit lamp housing (1). |

| 2. | For models with reflector/lens assembly and separate bulb: See Figure 3. Disconnect the two-way socket housing from the lamp bulb assembly (2). Remove the pursuit lamp reflector and lens assembly (1), lamp bulb assembly and the nesting ring (3). Discard the lamp and bulb, but retain the nesting ring. For models with sealed halogen unit: See Figure 2. Pull the contact terminals from the spade contacts (2) at the back of the pursuit lamp bulb (1). Remove the pursuit lamp bulb and the nesting ring (3). Discard the bulb, but retain the nesting ring. | |||||||||||||
| 3. | ALL models: See Figure 3. Place the nesting ring at the back of the replacement pursuit lamp reflector, lens and bulb assembly with the concave side facing away from the assembly. |

| 4. | See Figure 4. For models previously having reflector/lens assembly and
separate bulb: Connect the two-way socket housing inside the pursuit lamp housing to the lamp bulb assembly (3). The wire harness (4) can be discarded. For models previously having sealed halogen unit: a. Connect the two-way socket housing on the wire harness (4) from the kit to the new bulb assembly (3). b. Polarity of the connections is unimportant. Connect one of the single male terminal housings on the wire harness to the black wire contact terminal inside the pursuit lamp housing. c. Connect the remaining terminal housing to the gray/black wire contact terminal inside the housing. | |||||||||||||
| 5. | See Figure 3. Place the nesting ring (3) over the edge of the pursuit lamp housing. Rotate the nesting ring until the index tab (6) engages the slot at the bottom of the lamp housing. | |||||||||||||
| 6. | Holding the nesting ring in place, rotate the reflector, lens and bulb assembly so that the index tabs (4) at the back engage the pockets (5) in the nesting ring. | |||||||||||||
| 7. | Install the pursuit lamp bezel ring over the lamp housing. Rotate the bezel ring so that the screw tabs are centered at the bottom. Install the nut and screw if necessary, and secure until snug. NOTE Verify that the ignition key switch is in the OFF position before installing the main fuse or attaching the negative battery cable. | |||||||||||||
| 8. | Models with main fuse: Refer to the owner's manual and follow the instructions to install the main fuse. Models with main circuit breaker: Refer to the owner's manual and follow the instructions to attach the negative battery cable. Apply a light coat of Harley-Davidson electrical contact lubricant (H-D Part No. 99861-02), petroleum jelly or corrosion retardant material to the negative battery terminal. | |||||||||||||
| WARNING After installing seat, pull upward on seat to be sure it is locked in position. While riding, a loose seat can shift causing loss of control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00070b) | ||||||||||||||
| 9. | Refer to the owner's manual, and follow instructions to install the seat. |
