This kit can be installed using either original equipment or Screamin' Eagle® clutch pads.

This kit can be installed using either original equipment or Screamin' Eagle® clutch friction packs.

If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for your model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from a Harley-Davidson Dealer.
INSTALLATION
NOTE
Refer to applicable Harley-Davidson service manual for installation of clutch, but note the following exceptions:
Locknuts must be replaced with new locknuts each time they are removed.
| 1. | See Figure 1. After installing the Screamin' Eagle clutch hub into the original clutch shell, install the bearing retaining clip into slot "A" for model years '11 and later. Use the retaining ring in slot "B" for model years '06-'10 for Dyna and '07-'10 for Softails and Touring. | |||||||||
| 2. | See Figure 3 and Table 2. The clutch assembly replaces the original equipment single diaphragm spring with six coil springs. The coil springs allow for easy adjustment of clutch force. The total clutch force is adjustable from 0 to 570 pounds (0 to 258.5 kilograms). The force is increased or decreased by turning the locknuts (2) which retain the coil springs to the pressure plate. | |||||||||
| 3. | Based on the engine's torque output at the rear wheel, determine the total spring force and spring height required (See Spring Force Calculations Table.). | |||||||||
| 4. | See Figure 2. Tighten locknuts (1) in a cross-wise pattern until each spring bottoms out. NOTE After final adjustment, all springs must be at the same height. | |||||||||
| 5. | Refer to Table 1. Determine how many turns the locknuts must be backed off for your application, then loosen locknuts the indicated number of turns in a cross-wise pattern. |

| 6. | The clutch spring height (4) and cable free play must be checked and adjusted periodically to compensate for friction plate wear. These adjustments are especially important during the friction plates break-in period. Also, look for signs of clutch slippage and increase the total spring force accordingly. |
