INSTALLATION
NOTE
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO BEGINNING WORK.
The use of this kit will create a "dyno tuning use only" set of head pipes. Use of this kit on head pipes will render them unusable for street use. Do not drill holes into head pipes that will be used on street legal vehicles.
This tool kit allows you to create up to 40" dyno tuning use only head pipes. If needed, additional Rivnuts and plugs can be purchased in service kit, part number 14900011.
In all drilling operations, the goal is to have the smallest hole possible, especially when installing the Rivnut®. It is recommended that you drill practice holes with the drill bits/fittings and Rivnuts you have selected in order to prevent accidentally drilling too large a hole.
  1. Using a 3/8 inch drill bit, drill a hole in a straight section of the exhaust pipe at least 8 inches from the exhaust port. Distances up to 1.5 feet are acceptable as long as they will not be affected by reversion from the muffler side of the exhaust. Due to exhaust heat saturating of the stainless steel tube assembly, the longer distances are recommended.
  2. Deburr hole (recommended but not mandatory).
  3. Install the Rivnuts using the Rivnut installation tool. When installing the Rivnut, tighten then turn tool 180 degrees and tighten again.
    4. NOTE
    For AFR adaptor usage: Tubes will stay tighter longer if they are tied together with mechanics wire or a small hose clamp to form a triangle (2 points at the pipes and a common point tied together.)
    Fan MUST be kept on metal tubing to keep it cool.
