1. | Open the trunk door. Remove the trunk liner. | |||||||||
2. | See the service manual to remove the trunk door cover. | |||||||||
3. | See Figure 1. Install the switch and bracket assembly on the trunk light harness onto the left hinge bracket. a. Remove the forward hinge nut (2) from the hinge bracket. b. Install the switch and bracket assembly (1) onto the hinge bracket. c. Secure the switch bracket with the nut. Do not fully tighten now. |

4. | Route the trunk light harness Secure the harness with the existing clips located along the rear wall of the trunk. a. to the rear trunk wall, b. around the left side of the hinge, c. up around the trunk door opening d. to the top of the trunk. |
5. | Test-fit the lights to the inside of the trunk before installation. Do not remove the protective tape until ready to apply the lights. 2011- Later Models: See Figure 2. Position the lights to the inside of the trunk on either side of the trunk latch assembly. 2009- 2010 Models: Position the lights to the trunk ceiling. | |||||||||||||||||||
6. | Clean the light mounting area with a mixture of 50 percent isopropyl alcohol and 50 percent distilled water. Allow to dry completely. | |||||||||||||||||||
7. | Remove the protective tape from the adhesive backing of the lights. Carefully position the lights to the inside of the trunk. Press firmly into place. Hold the lights in position with steady pressure for about ten seconds. | |||||||||||||||||||
8. | See Figure 7. Install a wire clip (5) as needed under the trunk light wire harness inside the trunk. Secure the harness to the wire clip with a cable strap (4). Repeat step as necessary until the harness is secure. | |||||||||||||||||||
9. | Route the trunk light harness connector to the trunk door. |

10. | 2014- Later Models: Plug the trunk light harness connector into the open trunk light connector [263A] near the license plate light connector [233B] on the trunk door. 2011- 2013 Models: See Figure 3. Plug the trunk light harness connector into the open connector (1) on the trunk door. 2010 models: Connect the trunk light harness to the license plate light harness on the trunk door. 2009 models: Connect the trunk light harness to the vehicle rear lighting harness: a. Connect the trunk light harness connector to the open trunk light connector [263A] near the license plate light connector [233B] on the trunk door. b. See Figure 6. Install the 2 Amp fuse from the kit into the trunk light cavity (C3-D3) of the fuse block. c. See the service manual to remove the 2-way socket housing ( Figure 7 , Item 2) from the trunk light harness. d. See Figure 4. Unplug the license plate light connector [233B] (4) from the rear lighting harness connector [233A]. e. See the service manual to install the red wire terminal of the trunk light harness into cavity 2 of the license plate light connector [233B]. f. Cut the terminal from the black wire of the trunk light harness. Trim approximately 5 mm (3/16 in) of insulation from the wire end. g. Pull or cut back the conduit from the license plate light harness wires. h. Cut the black wire of the license plate light harness, leaving enough room on the wire to add a sealed splice connector. i. See the service manual. Use a sealed splice connector ( Figure 7 , item 7) to splice the license plate harness black wire to the trunk light harness black wire. j. Plug the license plate light connector [233B] into the rear lighting harness connector [233A]. k. See Figure 6. Install the 2 Amp fuse from the kit into the trunk light cavity (C3-D3) of the fuse block. l. See the service manual to remove the seat. m. See Figure 7 and the service manual. Connect the power harness (8) to the B+ connector [160B] in the area under the seat. n. Route the power harness into the trunk through the grommet in the left front wall of the trunk. Route the harness from the grommet, alongside the existing harness, to the trunk door. o. See the service manual to remove the 2-way socket housing ( Figure 7 , Item 2) from the trunk light harness. p. Cut the terminals from the black and red wires of the trunk light harness. Trim approximately 5 mm (3/16 in) of insulation from the wire ends. q. See Figure 5. Disconnect the license plate connector [233B] (3) from the rear lighting harness connector [233A]. r. Cut the black wire of the rear lighting harness license plate light connector [233A]. Leave enough room to install a sealed splice connector. s. Trim approximately 5 mm (3/16 in) of insulation from each wire end. t. See the service manual. Use a sealed splice connector ( Figure 7 , item 7) to splice the red wire of the trunk light harness to the power harness (8) wire. Use the remaining sealed splice connector (7) to splice the license plate harness black wire to the trunk light harness black wire. u. Plug the license plate light connector [233B] into the rear lighting harness connector [233A]. v. Install the 2 Amp fuse (6) into the inline fuse holder of the power harness. |
