| 1. | Block the motorcycle underneath the frame so the vehicle is upright and level. The sidestand should be able to move through its full range of travel without the weight of the motorcycle resting on it. |

| 2. | See Figure 1. Use the Spring Tool (HE-52B) to unhook the spring (6) from the extension plate (5) and the cast-in brace (2) on the sidestand leg (1). | |||||||||||||||
| 3. | See Figure 2. Note the slight difference in the shape of the hooks at each end of the new sidestand spring (1). Position the spring to the sidestand, with the end (2) that is more closed next to the hole in the spring extension plate. NOTE Orient the hook (2) as shown in Figure 1 , with the open edge facing AWAY from the sidestand leg. The hooks can be rotated to better align with the holes. | |||||||||||||||
| 4. | Hook the spring end (2) into the hole in the spring extension plate. | |||||||||||||||
| 5. | Hook the more open end (3) of the spring into the hole in the sidestand brace. | |||||||||||||||
| 6. | Test the sidestand for proper operation through its full range of travel. | |||||||||||||||
| 7. | Carefully remove the support blocking from beneath the motorcycle frame and rest the vehicle on the side stand. |
