1. | Initially inflate the air pad: a. Verify that the valve is closed by turning the valve dial clockwise. b. Using the bulb pump, inflate the pad until the cells just start to balloon the pad cover. c. Turn the valve dial counterclockwise to open the valve. d. Roll up the pad about half way to allow some air in the pad to escape. Close the valve and unroll the pad. Smooth the pad out to evenly redistribute the remaining air inside the pad.
2. | See Figure 1. Open the mounting strap by pulling apart the two hook and loop patches.
3. | Slide the strap under the front nose of the seat, being careful not to scratch the paint on the fuel tank or other surrounding surfaces. If this is not possible, remove the seat per the service manual.
4. | NOTE The strap has two adjustment points to accommodate large and small seats.
| |
5. | See Figure 3. Open the two mounting tabs on the bottom of the air pad cover, and wrap the tabs around the mounting strap attached to the seat in the previous steps. Reattach the tabs once the pad is in the desired position on the seat. |

2. | See Figure 1. Open the mounting strap by pulling apart the two hook and loop patches.
3. | NOTE The strap has two adjustment points to accommodate large and small pillion areas.
| |
4. | NOTE The pillion pad can be mounted in two directions. Width-wise for wider pillions, or length-wise for narrow pillions.
5. | See Figure 6. If the pad is mounted with the pump and valve towards the rear of the vehicle, a small elastic loop has been provided to secure the rear of the pad to the seat mounting tab. a. Remove the rear seat mounting screw. b. Slide the loop under the seat mounting tab. c. Install the seat mounting screw, and tighten to the proper torque. See the service manual. |
1. | With the cushion inflated to the initial pressure, sit on the cushion in normal riding position with feet on footboards or pegs.
2. | NOTE Do not over-inflate! These cushions work most effectively with a minimum amount of air. Over-inflation will result in a floating, unstable feeling, and will not effectively distribute the seated pressure loads.
3. | Check to see if there is adequate pressure in the cushion by shifting your weight, leaning your body (not the motorcycle) from side to side. The air within the cushion should transfer from cell to cell beneath you to redistribute the pressure. a. If you feel you are touching the seat before sinking approximately 13 mm (½ in) into the cushion, inflate the cushion with the bulb pump. b. If you feel the cushion is over-inflated, deflate the cushion using the vent valve. |
