There may be decreased access to the jiffy stand tab on Softail models.
Installation Requirements
WARNINGRider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
INSTALLATION
| 1. | See Figure 1. Remove e-clip (3), clevis pin (1), and return spring (2). Remove footboard. Save hardware for installation. | |||||||
| 2. | Clean and inspect footboard brackets. Replace if worn, rusted or damaged. | |||||||
| 3. | Install footboard. a. Insert the short end of the torsion spring (2) into the forward most hole in the footboard. b. While holding the spring in place, install the footboard and spring onto the mounting bracket. c. Install clevis pin (1). d. Install e-clip (3). e. Rotate the footboard up and push the torsion spring into the slot on the mounting bracket. |

| 4. | Check that footboard pivots freely on clevis pin. | |||||||
| 5. | Repeat for opposite side. |
NOTE
Avoid contacting chrome surfaces with abrasive materials (stones, sand, etc.) as damage will result.
