Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for this year/model motorcycle is required for this installation. One is available from a Harley-Davidson dealer.

There are no service parts available with this kit.
Adhesive Strips
1.
NOTE
  • Ambient temperature between 21–38 °C (70–100 °F) for proper adhesion. Do not apply below 10 °C (50.0 °F).
  • Parts cannot be repositioned after initial adhesive installation.
  • Allow at least 24 hours after application before exposing the area to vigorous washing, strong water spray or extreme weather.
  • The adhesive bond will increase to maximum strength after about 72 hours at normal room temperature.
  • Do not clean with denatured alcohol, mineral spirits or other solvents. Damage to components occurs.
Using a 50:50 isopropyl alcohol/water solution, thoroughly clean surface. Allow to dry completely.
2. Install item into area.
a. With the adhesive backing still in place, test fit the item to the area.
b. Remove the adhesive backing.
c. Install the item to the area.
d. Press surface of the item firmly to make sure that there is good adhesion.
PREPARE
1. Remove seat. See the service manual.
2. Remove main fuse. See the service manual.
3. Remove fuel tank. See the service manual.
4. Remove and Universal Serial Bus (USB) caddy. See the service manual.
5. See Figure 1. Remove horn assembly.
a. Remove horn connectors (2).
b. Remove narrow screws (4).
c. Remove horn assembly (3).

a. Remove screws (4).
b. Separate USB caddy upper (1) and caddy lower (3).
c. Disconnect USB [264].

INSTALL
1. See Figure 3. Connect adapter harness [264C] (1) and [264D] (2) to OE [264].
a. Secure harness to inside of USB caddy.
2. Route adapter harness through rear of USB caddy.

3. Install USB caddy. See the service manual.
4. Harness routing:
a. See Figure 4. Route wire harness from rear of USB caddy (4), forward along the frame backbone (5).
b. Clean and attach wire retainer bracket (1) to frame backbone. See adhesive strips.
c. See Figure 5. Secure harness to wire retainer bracket (4) with cable strap (1).
d. See Figure 4. Clean and attach wire retainer bracket to steering head area (2). See adhesive strips.
e. With enough slack allotted for dynamic movement of steering, secure the [299] harness end to wire retainer bracket with cable strap.
5. Turn steering stop to stop to verify allotted slack.
NOTE
If the mating accessory has an connector other the one shown on Figure 3 (3), then use the terminals in Figure 5 (4) to terminate the end of the accessory wire.
Strip back wires and crimp terminals to wires using the correct tool. See the electrical diagnostic manual (EDM).
