Installation Requirements
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for this year/model motorcycle is required for this installation. One is available from a Harley-Davidson dealer.
Kit Contents
See Figure 4 and Table 2.
INSTALLATION
1.
NOTE
Refer to the service manual for more information on the following steps.
Remove transmission inner side cover.
a. Remove seat.
b. Disconnect negative battery cable.
c. Loosen exhaust system and pull away from side covers.
d. Remove transmission outer side cover.
e. Remove secondary clutch actuator.
f. Remove transmission inner side cover.
2. Remove clutch pushrod by sliding it out of transmission mainshaft.
3. Install new transmission mainshaft oil deflector.
a. Figure 1 Insert the shank portion of the oil deflector squarely into the end of the transmission mainshaft.
b. Figure 2 Push firmly until the oil deflector is fully seated against the face of the mainshaft.

4. Figure 3 Test-fit cover with new gasket.
a. Test-fit cover with new gasket to check clearance between oil deflector and inside surface of inner cover.
b. There should be clearance prior to compressing the gasket.
NOTE
If interference between the oil deflector and inner side cover is present, contact Technical Services at 800-664-7762 (U.S. only) or 1-414-343-4056.

5. Install clutch pushrod through the bore of the oil deflector.

Refer to the service manual for more information on the following steps.
Install transmission inner side cover.
7. Install secondary clutch actuator.
8. Install transmission outer side cover.
9. Secure exhaust system.
10. Connect negative battery cable.
11. Install seat.
