Installation Requirements
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
Separate purchase of 3M Primer 94 or 3M Adhesion Promoter 111.
INSTALL
NOTE
  • Ambient temperature during puck installation should be at least 50° F (10° C). A temperature of 70° F (21° C) or higher is best.
  • Puck installation at temperatures below 50° F (10° C) will likely cause failure of the adhesive bond.
  • Do not sand or scuff the surface where puck will be installed.
1. Figure 2 Identify left and right side pucks by the letter inside the part.

2. Figure 3 With adhesive backing in place, locate puck on frame so that puck makes contact all around its perimeter and fits frame contour.
3. Figure 1 With contrast or wax pencil, trace outline (A) of the entire puck onto frame.
a. Alternate option: mark locations with masking tape.
4. Clean frame in the puck installation area using isopropyl alcohol.
5. Wait a minimum of 5 minutes for the alcohol to evaporate.
6. Obtain one Primer 94 or Adhesive Promoter 111.

WARNING
Surface Primer contains ethyl benzene and toluene, chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. (00453b)
7. Carefully follow directions on primer/promoter stick.
8. Make sure puck installation area of frame is clean and completely dry.
9. Use applicator brush to apply primer/promoter to the entire puck installation area, all the way out to the pencilled outline.
10. Allow primer/promoter to cure for at least 5 minutes before proceeding to the next step.
11. Starting from edge and working toward center, carefully peel off adhesive backing from puck.
NOTE
Puck can only be applied once. If puck is peeled off, it will have reduced adhesive strength when it is re-applied to frame.
12. Align corners of puck with pencil marks.
13. Tack puck to frame at the corners.
14. Press evenly and firmly around the perimeter for 60 seconds to firmly seal puck to frame.
15. Allow puck to cure for at least one hour before riding.
16. Remove pencil marks.
17. Repeat preceding steps for opposite side of vehicle.
