Installation Requirements
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:
Preparation for All Adhesive Pieces
NOTE
Mounting surfaces must be above 16 °C (61 °F), or the grille piece may not adhere.
1. Using a 50:50 isopropyl alcohol/water solution, thoroughly clean the surface where the pad pieces will be installed for each kit component.
NOTICE
Do not clean with denatured alcohol, mineral spirits, or other solvent products, or component damage may occur. (00411c)
2. Allow the surface to dry completely before continuing to install kit.
NOTE
Pad pieces cannot be repositioned after initial installation. Verify they are properly aligned before pressing into place.
3. Test fit the pad piece prior to removing adhesive backing of the double-sided tape of the pad piece.
NOTE
Let the adhesive cure for at least 24 hours at no less than 16 °C (61 °F).
PREPARE
1. Position shop towels on a level working surface.
2. Remove fairing. See the service manual.
INSTALL
NOTE
Follow the procedure for adhesive pieces. Refer to Preparation for All Adhesive Pieces.
1. See Figure 2. Position protection pads (3 & 4) with adhesive stripes facing inside of grille (2).

2. See Figure 3. Remove adhesive backing and install pads into place.
a. Verify pads are within the grille's frame.

4. Place the grille and fairing assembly vertically with grille facing down on the working surface.
5. See Figure 6. Position spacers (9) on the grille.

NOTE
7. See Figure 8. Position backing pads (5 & 6) with adhesive stripes facing towards protection bracket (7 & 8) and away from the grill.
a. Do not remove adhesive backing at this time.

9. Remove adhesive backing and install onto brackets.

12. See Figure 12. Carefully lift grill and fairing to provide access to the screw holes in the grille.
13. Install screws (1). Hand tighten.
14. Carefully rotate faring assembly to horizontal position.

16. Tighten screws.
Torque: 2.1–2.2 N·m (18.6–19.5 in-lbs)
COMPLETE
1. Install fairing. See the service manual.
a. Verify all four fairing posts are secured in grommets. Make sure cable and clutch lines are not pushing fairing off of the grommets.
b. Verify that the bottom corners of grille are fully engaged with fairing edges and if necessary push fairing inward to fully seat.
