Installation Requirements

WARNING

Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)

Separate purchase of wire retention pads might be required if installed on vehicle.

PREPARE

1.	Remove main fuse. See service manual.
2.	Remove seat. See service manual.

REMOVE

1.	Sportster: Remove rear fender turn signal. See service manual. a. Figure 2 Disconnect turn, stop and tail lamp [18], [19] harness connectors (1, 3). b. Figure 3 Remove left rear lighting harness (3) from bracket (1). c. Remove lighting harness from lower bracket harness clips (2). d. Remove both turn signal wire harnesses through right and left feed-through holes in rear fender. e. Figure 4 Remove screws (3, 4), washers (5), locknut (7) and nut plate (8). Remove assembled rear fender strut covers (1) and rear turn signal assemblies (2) from rear fender struts. Carefully remove turn signal harnesses through holes in fender and fender struts. NOTE Take care in handling the rear fender and prevent any paint damage. f. Disconnect left and right turn signal connectors [18B], [19B]. g. Remove turn signal special screw (6) and rear fender strut cover (1) from each rear turn signal assembly (2). Separate lamp support from turn signal housing.
2.	Dyna and Softail: Figure 5 Remove rear fender with fender supports (2). See service manual. a. Disconnect harness connectors (1).
3.	Remove fender support from fender. Do one support at a time. See service manual.
4.	Figure 7 Remove half of wire retention pads (1). If equipped.
5.	Remove wire harness from fender support (2).
6.	All: Figure 8 Disassemble turn signal housing. See service manual.
7.	Figure 6 Disconnect pins from connector. Save for later installation. a. Make note of connector orientation. b. Make note of pin locations. c. Make note of wire color and its location. d. Reference the year and model of Harley-Davidson Electronic Diagnostic Manual (EDM) for connector information.
8.	Route harness through lamp support (2).
9.	Discard housing assembly (1).

INSTALL

1.	Figure 9 Locate turn signal housing pins (3)
2.	Figure 8 Route pins with harness through lamp support (2). a. Make sure orientation of lamp support (2) is correct. b. Route wire harness through small passage.
3.	Figure 9 Install pins (3) into previously removed connector. a. See Figure 6 and Refer to Table 3 or Table 4 to assemble connector. b. Reference Harley-Davidson Electronic Diagnostic Manual (EDM) for connector information.
4.	Sportster: Figure 4 Install each rear turn rear signal housing with lamp support (2) to rear fender strut cover (1). Tighten special screw (6). See service manual.
5.	Install rear fender strut covers (1) over fender struts. Install turn signal wiring harness through hole in strut and fender.
6.	Install nut (7) onto turn special screw (6) from inside fender. Tighten finger-tight.
7.	Secure fender to each fender strut (1) with screw (3), washer (5) and nut (7) in forward mounting hole. Install screw (4), washer (5) and nut plate (8) in rear mounting hole. Tighten finger-tight.
8.	Tighten turn signal nuts (7). See service manual.
9.	Tighten strut cover screws (3, 4). See service manual.
10.	Figure 2 Connect left turn/stop/tail lamp [19] and right turn/stop/tail lamp [18] connectors.
11.	Dyna and Softail: Figure 7 Install wire harness to fender support (2).
12.	Install wire retention pads (1). If equipped.
13.	Install fender support to fender. Do one support at a time. See service manual.
14.	Figure 5 Install rear fender with fender supports (2). See service manual. a. Connect harness connectors (1).
15.	Figure 9 Install LED signal (5). a. Connect connectors (1 and 2).
16.	Figure 10 Align LED assembly so that hinge (1) is in the 12 o'clock position and drain hole (2) in the six o'clock position.
17.	Install hinge into groove at top of bullet housing (2) and swing bottom of LED assembly (1) into bullet housing.
18.	Snap into place. Two snaps should be heard for full insertion.
19.	Repeat for other side.

NOTE

After installation of new turn signal inserts, verify proper operation. If turn signals appear to flash quickly, BCM will need to "learn" the new current setting of LED inserts. To put BCM in this "learn" mode, flash hazards for 30 seconds. Then turn hazards off and recheck flash rate of turn signals

COMPLETE

1.	Check operation of all lamps.
2.	Install seat. After installing seat, pull up on seat to verify that it is secure. See service manual.
3.	Install main fuse. See service manual.
