REMOVAL
  1. Remove the primary cover, clutch assembly and primary chaincase.
  2. See Figure 1. Assemble the puller plate (1) with the two bolts (7) and two washers (6) into the puller bar (5). Install the center screw (4) and apply lubricant to threads. Install hardened tip (6).
  3. NOTE
    In the following step be sure the bolts are threaded into the puller plate at least half-way and are at the same length on the bar.
  4. Install assembly on mainshaft positioning the puller plate (1) behind the bearing race (2) as shown.
  5. Turn the center screw (4) clockwise until the bearing race (2) is pulled off the mainshaft. If you feel resistance of over 50 ft-lbs, you may need to apply heat to the outside diameter of the race to pull it free. Do not exceed 200 degrees.

INSTALLATION
  1. Slide the new bearing race onto mainshaft with the chamfer toward the transmission. Use a press fit lubricant on the race bore and outside of the bearing race.
  2. See Figure 3 and Table 1. Install the left-hand thread extension shaft (1) to the transmission mainshaft.
  3. See Figure 2. Place the pusher tube (2) over the extension shaft with the large flat washer (3) and nut (4).
  4. Tighten the nut so the inside edge of the race is 0.100-0.125 inch (2.540-3.180 mm) from the end of the main drive gear.
