This engine assembly/display stand is designed for use with Harley-Davidson Big Twin (1340 Evolution and Twin Cam) engines. A Twin Cam Model Transmission, when assembled to Twin Cam Engine, may also be displayed on Engine Stand.
NOTE
A Service Manual for your model motorcycle is available from a Harley-Davidson Dealer.
NOTE
Prior to mounting an engine for display, the compensating sprocket, rotor and stator must be removed.
NOTE
Not for use with Sportster, VRSC (V-Rod) or Buell Engines/Transmissions.

If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Assemble Engine Stand
NOTE
The Service Parts illustration shows the display stand assembled.
NOTE
Due to precision fit and possible powder paint (coat) buildup in mounting holes, it may be necessary to clean excess paint from mounting areas prior to performing the following Step.
| 1. | See Figure 1. Obtain the mounting plate (1), two legs (2), four 3/8 inch capscrews (3), eight flat washers (4) and four 3/8 inch nuts (5) from kit. Orient the legs (and hardware) and secure legs to mounting plate using capscrews, washers and nuts from kit. Tighten hardware to 20-25 ft-lbs (27.1-33.9 Nm). | |
| 2. | Obtain the plastic square end caps (6) from kit. Using a rubber mallet, tap the end caps into the ends of each leg. | |
NOTICE Polymer interface must be installed properly to engine stand to avoid damage to engine crankcase. (00531b) | ||
| 3. | Obtain the polymer interface (7), three 1/4 inch capscrews (8), and three 1/4 inch nuts (10) (not shown) from kit. Orient the polymer interface so that holes are aligned and alignment groove (9) is facing "away" from mounting plate. Secure polymer interface using screws and nuts. Tighten ONLY until snug. NOTE The remaining capscrews (11) and washers (12) included in kit (not shown in drawing) are used for mounting engine to engine stand. |
Mounting Engine to Engine Stand
NOTE
Remove and save page 2 for future reference.
NOTE
The engine crankcase can also be bolted to the engine stand while on its side and then unrighted into display position.
- Obtain the four 5/16 inch capscrews (11) and four 5/16 inch washers (12) from kit.
- With polymer interface facing the four threaded holes vacated by the primary drive assembly, install the four capscrews with washers through the mounting plate and interface to secure the engine crankcase to the engine stand.
- Tighten capscrews to 7-10 ft-lbs (9.5-14.9 Nm).
Maintenance
Clean engine stand using mild soap and water or mild water soluble degreaser.
Ordering Parts
Always replace broken, bent or worn parts prior to using this stand. Use Harley-Davidson parts or parts of equal quality for repairs. Replacement parts are available at your Harley-Davidson Dealer. See Figure 1 for itemized parts.
NOTE
Optional hardware may be purchased to enhance the displays appearance. Use the part numbers specified in Table 1 when ordering replacement hardware.
