1. | Prepare two solutions in spray bottles: a. Slip Solution: Thoroughly mix 16 oz. (473 mL) of distilled water and 2-3 drops of baby shampoo. The solution sheets off the paint guards with minimum froth. b. Tack Solution: Using 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol, mix a solution that is 10% alcohol and 90% distilled water.

1. | Wet mounting surface and fingers thoroughly with soap solution.
2. | For top adhesive piece, align paint guard with rear edge. For side adhesive piece, align paint guard with leading edge of top tape.
3. | Roll a small section of paper backing away from adhesive surface. Spray adhesive surface with soap solution. Align with a straight edge of mounting surface. When aligned properly, slow roll remaining backing from film.
4. | When backing is fully removed, spray entire paint guard film with soap solution and smooth film into place by hand.
5. | Once positioned properly, gently lift rear edge of film about halfway. NOTE If repositioning is needed, spray more of the soap solution on paint guard and hands and position as necessary.
6. | Spray film and mounting surface with water/alcohol mixture.
7. | Start squeegee from center and work toward rear edge to remove air bubbles.
8. | Use firm and overlapping strokes with squeegee to work out all air. Do not cut or tear film.
9. | Gently lift other side of film and repeat steps 6-8.
10. | Wipe paint guard dry with a Harley-Davidson® Microfiber Detailing Cloth (Part No. 94663-02 or 93600136). a. Check for water pockets or air bubbles. b. If necessary, spray with more alcohol solution and squeegee again. c. If necessary, paint guard film can still be lifted to reposition. Spray paint guard film, mounting surface and your fingers with alcohol solution. d. Squeegee again until all water pockets and air bubbles are removed.
11. | Repeat all steps for other paint guard pieces. |
1. | Check edges for adhesion. a. If any area is not adhered, wrap squeegee with a Harley-Davidson® Microfiber Detailing Cloth (Part No. 94663-02 or 93600136) and squeegee edges again.
2. | Allow paint guards to cure for 24 hours.
