1. | Set motorcycle upright. See Secure the Motorcycle for Service in the service manual. |
1. | Remove Original Equipment (OE) pivot screw nuts and pivot screws. See the service manual. | |
2. | Remove OE footboards. See the service manual. | |
3. | NOTE Save screw for install. |
1. | Clean and inspect footboard brackets. Replace if worn, rusted or damaged. | |
2. | See Figure 1. Install footboard. a. Install new front rider footboard bracket (3) using OE fasteners. b. Install new shoulder bolts (1) and footboard (4). c. Tighten front rider footboard bracket (3) fastener. See the service manual. d. Apply threadlocker and install nut (2). Tighten. Torque: 6.8–9 N·m (60–80 in-lbs) | |
3. | Check that foorboard pivots freely on screws (1). | |
4. | Repeat for opposite side. |
1. | Remove screws (6). | |
2. | Replace wear peg (5). | |
3. | Apply threadlocker to threads of screws and install. Tighten. Torque: 2 N·m (18 in-lbs) |
