Installation Requirements

WARNING

Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)

NOTE

This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:

PREPARE

1.	Remove main fuse. See service manual.
2.	Remove passenger and rider seats. See service manual.
3.	Remove fuel tank. See service manual.

REMOVE

1.	Remove knock sensors. See service manual.
2.	Remove ignition coil. See service manual.
3.	Remove and discard ignition coil mounting bracket. See service manual.

INSTALL

NOTE

In the circumstance that only one cylinder head is being replaced, only install one double stud in replacement head.

1.	Figure 2 Apply threadlocker (3) to larger diameter of threads.LOCTITE 262 HIGH STRENGTH THREADLOCKER AND SEALANT (RED) (94759-99)
2.	Install double stud (4) into cylinder head(s) (1, 2).
3.	Figure 3 Set double stud height (1): a. Front Cylinder Head: 35.5 mm (1.4 in) b. Rear Cylinder Head: 33 mm (1.3 in)
4.	Figure 4 Install new coil mounting bracket (4) over double studs.
5.	Install knock sensors (2). a. Make sure knock sensor is positioned to left side of rotation stop.
6.	Install knock sensor nuts (1). Tighten. Torque: 22–24 N·m (16–18 ft-lbs)
