Installation Requirements
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:
These items are available at your local Harley-Davidson dealership:
  • Road Glide models: Separate purchase of a Fairing Support Kit, (Part No. 47201044 (polished) or 47201045 (black)) is required for this installation.
  • All models: Separate purchase of a Fairing Lower Kit is required for this installation. See Parts and Accessories (P&A) Retail Catalog.
NOTE
This Engine Guard Kit will not fit with CVO® Road Glide® lower fairings. These must be removed to use this kit on vehicles equipped with this style lowers.
REMOVE (ROAD GLIDE MODELS)
1. Remove outer fairing. See service manual.
2. Remove lower fairing support. See service manual.
3. Remove radiator shroud. See service manual.
4. See Figure 2. Remove original engine guard:
a. Loosen, but do not remove upper mounting screws (2).
b. Remove lower mounting screws (1), save for later use.

REMOVE (STREET GLIDE MODELS)
1. Remove radiator shroud. See service manual.
2. See Figure 2. Remove original engine guard:
a. Loosen, but do not remove upper mounting screws (2).
b. Remove lower mounting screws (1), save for later use.
c. Remove original engine guard (3).
INSTALL
1. See Figure 2. Tighten upper mounting screws (2) for voltage regulator and oil cooler bracket.
Torque: 10.2–12.4 N·m (90–110 in-lbs)
2. See Figure 3. Install new Clip Nut (1) onto frame from bottom with threaded insert inboard.

3. See Figure 4. Position NEW engine guard (1) in correct position.
a. Install washer (2) and screw (3) into top center mount.
b. Install original mounting screws (4) removed earlier, into each lower engine guard mount.
c. Tighten upper fastener. (3)
Torque: 30–38 N·m (22–28 ft-lbs)
d. Tighten lower fasteners.(4)
Torque: 20–27 N·m (15–20 ft-lbs)

COMPLETE ROAD GLIDE MODELS
1. Install radiator shroud. See service manual.
2. Install fairing support kit following instructions included with that kit.
3. Install fairing lower kit following instructions included with that kit.

1. Install radiator shroud. See service manual.
2. Install fairing lower kit following instructions included with that kit.
