Installation Requirements
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:
PREPARE
NOTE
When a solo seat is installed without a passenger seat, passenger footpegs or footboards and passenger grab strap must be removed.
1. Remove seat. See service manual.
2. Remove grab strap and nuts.
REMOVE
1. Figure 2 Remove two nuts (1).
a. Leave plastic stud plate retaining washers (2) in place.
INSTALL
1. If installing seat with a passenger pillion, refer to pillion instruction sheet to install pillion and grab strap.
2. Install new solo seat.
a. Figure 3 Slide sole seat (2) into position until front tab engages frame and rear of seat locales over mounting studs.
b. Install seat mounting nuts (1) onto studs. Tighten.
Torque: 0.9–1.7 N·m (8–15 in-lbs)
c. After seat is installed, pull up on seat to verify that it is secure. See service manual.
3. If pillion is not being installed, pull down flap at rear of seat to cover mounting studs.
