This kit fits 2006 and later Dyna model vehicles and 2007 and later Touring and Softail models.

Installation Requirements
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:
These items are available at a Harley-Davidson dealership.
  • Separate purchase of Camshaft Cover gasket is required. The original camshaft cover gasket must be replaced with a new camshaft cover gasket.
  • Separate purchase of the Camshaft Spacer Kit (Part No. 25928-06) is recommended. This kit contains five different spacers to achieve proper sprocket alignment.
PREPARE
NOTE
DO NOT reuse Original Equipment (OE) crankshaft and camshaft screws for final assembly, discard upon removal.
1. Clean camshaft screws and camshaft, including internal threads, from kit with brake cleaner.
2. See Figure 5 or Figure 6. Apply a thin film of Screamin' Eagle Assembly Lube to:SCREAMIN' EAGLE ASSEMBLY LUBE (11300002)
a. Both sides of new washers.
b. Bottom flange of new screws.
c. DO NOT apply to friction washers.
3. Apply threadlocker to first three to six threads of camshaft screw (Part No. 10201512).LOCTITE 262 HIGH STRENGTH THREADLOCKER AND SEALANT (RED) (94759-99)
4. See Figure 4. Prepare camshaft.
a. Install O-ring (4) to camshaft (2).
b. Make sure O-ring (4) is completely seated in groove of camshaft (2).
c. Install friction washer (3) over O-ring (4). Do not force friction washer (3) over O-ring (4).
d. Use spacer (1) to push friction washer (3) past O-ring (4).
e. Make sure friction washer (3) is concentric to cam plate bearing surface.

INSTALL
NOTE
Replace original camshaft cover gasket with a new camshaft cover gasket when installing the camshaft cover. Installation Requirements
Reference appropriate service manual for installing camshaft components. When tightening camshaft drive sprockets to ends of crankshaft and camshaft, use procedures in this instruction sheet in place of those in the Service Manual.
  • Use friction washers on all Milwaukee-Eight and Twin Cam P&A applications.
  • On Twin Cam OE applications, discard the frictions washers and centering o-ring.
1. Install camshaft. See service manual.
2. Install camshaft support plate. See service manual.
3. Wipe off residual assembly lube from face of camshaft with clean, dry cloth.
a. DO NOT use brake cleaner.
4. Install proper size camshaft spacer. See service manual.
5. Install second friction washer. See service manual.
6. Install camshaft sprocket, timing chain and crank sprocket. See service manual.
7. See Figure 5 or Figure 6. Install crankshaft sprocket screw (2) with flat washer (3) to secure the crankshaft sprocket to the end of the crankshaft, but do not tighten.
a. Wipe off any excess assembly lube.
8. Install camshaft sprocket screw (1) with flat washer (4) to secure camshaft sprocket to end of camshaft, but do not tighten.
a. Wipe off any excess assembly lube.
9. Position special tool between crankshaft and camshaft sprockets to prevent rotation.

Special Tool: CRANKSHAFT/CAMSHAFT SPROCKET LOCKING TOOL (HD-47941)

a. The handle of the tool is stamped "Crank" and "Cam" to verify proper orientation.
10. Alternately tighten crankshaft (2) and camshaft (1) sprocket flange screws. Tighten.
Torque: 20.3 N·m (15 ft-lbs) Initial torque
11. Loosen each flange screw one full turn (360 degrees).
12. Final tighten camshaft sprocket screw (1).
Torque: 54 N·m (40 ft-lbs) Final torque
13. Final tighten crankshaft sprocket screw (2).
Torque: 32.5 N·m (24 ft-lbs) Final torque

2. Install camshaft chain tensioner. See service manual.
