Installation Requirements
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:
  • A Harley-Davidson dealer.
  • H-D Service Information Portal, a subscription-based access available for most 2001 and newer models.
WARNING
When installing any electrical accessory, be certain not to exceed the maximum amperage rating of the fuse or circuit breaker protecting the affected circuit being modified. Exceeding the maximum amperage can lead to electrical failures, which could result in death or serious injury. (00310a)
NOTE
Kit requires up to an additional 760 mA current draw.
These items are available at your local Harley-Davidson dealership.
  • Separate purchase of color matched Tour-Pak is required for this installation.
  • Separate purchase of color matched Tour-Pak Filler Panel is required for this installation.
  • Separate purchase of Two-Up Tour-Pak Mounting Rack (Part No. 53000459 or 53000221) is required for this installation.
  • Separate purchase of 4-Point Docking Hardware Kit (Part No. 52300354 or 52300353) is required for this installation.
  • 2023-2025 Center-Cooled Vehicles: Separate purchase Speaker and Lighting Wire Adapter Harness (Part No. 69203682) is required for this installation.
  • 2023-2025 Center-Cooled Vehicles: Requires dealer update to Body Control Module (BCM) software to make sure proper operation of light.
PREPARE
1. Remove seat. See service manual.
2. Remove left saddlebag. See service manual.
3. Remove left side cover. See service manual.
4. Remove main fuse. See service manual.
REMOVE
1. If installed, remove Tour-Pak. Refer to Installation Requirements.
2. See Figure 2. Remove lower tether anchor.
a. Secure Tour-Pak top in open position.
b. Remove two screws (1).
c. Remove lower tether anchor (2) from Tour-Pak tub (3).
d. Remove Tour-Pak tub liner (4).

a. Remove four screws (2). Save for later use.
b. Remove and discard filler panel (1).

a. Remove two screws (1) securing ground plate flanges.
b. Remove four nuts on posts (2) securing rack to ground plate (3).

INSTALL
Tub
NOTE
There are mold marks in back of tub for grommet and light drill points.
For front grommet, a measurement will be required for drill point.
1. See Figure 5. Drill five 1/8-in pilot holes (1) for light assembly.
2. Drill 1/8-in pilot hole (2) for back grommet.
3. Drill five 1/4-in holes (1) for light assembly.
4. Drill one 3/4-in hole (2) for back grommet.
5. Deburr all holes.

6. See Figure 6. Make measurements to locate pilot hole for grommet.
NOTE
Check measurement with front grommet to make sure the hole will clear tub walls and grommet flange clears tub wall radius.
Front grommet reference dimensions assume a straight-edge used for measurement.
If installing speaker pod kit, make sure there is enough clearance for the speaker bracket.
7. Center punch location to be drilled.
8. To protect painted surface, install masking tape over marked pilot hole location.
9. Drill 1/8-in pilot hole for front grommet.
10. Drill one 3/4-in hole for front grommet.
11. Remove masking tape.
12. Deburr hole.

Light Assembly
NOTE
Light assembly must be installed prior to filler panel.
Lubricate grommets with mild soapy water to assist with installation.
1. See Figure 7. Install and route Tour-Pak tub (1) wire harness (3).
a. Place wire harness (3) in tub.
b. See Figure 9. Feed wire harness pins (2) through front hole.
c. See Figure 7. Feed light connector (4) through back hole.
d. Install front and back grommets (2, 5).

2. See Figure 9. Install light assembly (5) to Tour-Pak.
a. See Figure 10. Connect harness (2) to light.
b. See Figure 9. Set light (5) onto Tour-Pak tub (3).
c. Install five screws (4).
Torque: 3.8–4.5 N·m (34–40 in-lbs)
NOTE
Tape is used to control harness path prior to securing Tour-Pak mounting plate.
d. See Figure 8. Secure harness with tape (7) (customer provided).
NOTE
Prep tub surface by removing grease, oil, and debris. Clean with a 50:50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water. Allow part to completely dry.
e. Install self adhesive anchors (8) to Tour-Pak tub.
f. Secure wire harness to anchors with cable straps (8).

3. See Figure 9. Pin wire terminals (2) from harness to 6-pin connector (1).
a. Refer to Table 2. Fill empty cavities with seal plugs (11).
b. See cavity assignment in Table 3.
4. See Figure 11. With secondary lock unlocked, align the terminal to rear of connector.
5. Insert terminal until it stops and locks on the lock finger with an audible click.
6. Push down on secondary lock inside connector shell to lock terminals.

7. Install mounting plate before panel. Reuse two screws removed previously. Tighten.
Torque: 3.4–4.7 N·m (30–42 in-lbs)

1. See Figure 12. Install filler panel (2) to Tour-Pak tub (1).
a. Install 4 clips (4) to panel.
b. Align filler panel (2) against and Tour-Pak tub (1).
NOTE
Make sure upper left and right sections of the filler panel are seated before securing it.
c. Install four screws (3). Tighten.
Torque: 3.8–4.5 N·m (34–40 in-lbs)

HARNESS INSTALLATION
NOTE
If an adapter harness is already present at C7 from a prior install of an audio/speaker kit, do not remove it, skip step 1a and 1b.
1. Install Adaptor Harness.
a. Disconnect connector C7.
b. Connect 12pin (2023-2025) or 16pin (2026-later) adaptor harness inline with male and female C7.
NOTE
Make sure 4-way audio connectors on adapter harness are connected together in the same configuration if an adapter is already present.
If adding the adapter, connect the 4-way pin and socket sides of the adapter together
c. See Figure 13. Bundle C7 connectors at rear fender and make sure clearance to seat pan is maintained.

2. See Figure 2. Install lower tether anchor.
a. Install Tour-Pak tub liner (4).
b. Install lower tether anchor (2) to Tour-Pak tub (3).
c. Install two screws (1). Tighten.
Torque: 2.6–3.2 N·m (23–28 in-lbs)
d. Close Tour-Pak top and test tether operation.
3. Install rack to Tour-Pak.
a. See rack documentation for torque specification.
b. Install docking hardware. See docking hardware documentation for torque specification.
4. Install Tour-Pak.
5. Connect Tour-Pak harness to adapter harness.
6. See Figure 13 and Figure 14. Make sure excess harness avoids moving components.
a. Route light harness along frame rail and secure harness adaptor with cable strap.
b. Make sure clearance to seat pan is maintained.

7. Secure light harness to frame rail with re-closable (2) cable strap.
a. Do not clip cable strap.
b. Ensure seat does not pinch light harness.
COMPLETE
NOTE
Reusable cable strap can be removed and weather cap installed to adaptor harness when Tour-Pak is detached.

2. Update BCM software 16.5.11.2 or later.
3. Install left side cover. See service manual.
4. Install left saddlebag. See service manual.
5. Install seat.
