Installation Requirements
WARNINGRider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)

This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:

Kits 50502642, 50502643, 50502802, 50502803, 50503032, 50503042: Cleats (Part No. 12600390) service kit is available for separate purchase.
Kits 50503329, 50503330, 50503331, 50503332: Insert (Part No. 50503140) service kit is available for separate purchase.
REMOVE
| 1. | Remove hardware fastening stock footpeg to vehicle footpeg support. Save hardware for installation of new footpegs. | |
| 2. | Remove existing footpegs and spring washers. Note orientation of, and save, spring washers for installation. NOTE See Figure 3. When installing footpeg support mount on vehicle footpeg support make sure spring washer (1) is positioned inside of footpeg support with square edge toward inside of support. |
INSTALL
| 1. | Install new footpeg mount in reverse order of stock footpeg mount removal. NOTE Secure each footpeg mount and spring washer with screw and locknut removed earlier. Tighten locknuts to 29 N·m (21.4 ft-lbs). a. Place a spring, along with mount end of footpeg, inside slots of footpeg supports. | |
| WARNING Footrests must fold up and toward rear of motorcycle if struck. Failure to set footrests to fold up and back could result in death or serious injury. (00366a) | ||
| 2. | See Figure 3. For each footpeg, position footpeg as desired, then secure with adjusting screw (1). Tighten. Torque: 29 N·m (21.4 ft-lbs) | |
| 3. | Empire footpegs install with wider section of footpeg facing forward on vehicle. |
Wear Peg Replacement
NOTE
See service manual for wear peg orientation.
| 1. | See Figure 4. Remove existing wear peg from footpeg. | |
| 2. | Apply 2 or 3 drops of threadlocker to threads of new wear peg and install to footpeg.LOCTITE 243 MEDIUM STRENGTH THREADLOCKER AND SEALANT (BLUE) (99642-97) | |
| 3. | Secure wear peg. Tighten. Torque: 6–9 N·m (4.4–6.6 ft-lbs) |

Cleat Replacement
| 1. | Kits 50502642, 50502643, 50502802, 50502803, 50503032, 50503042: When servicing cleats, remove existing cleats from footpegs. | |
| 2. | Install new cleats. Tighten. Torque: 2.48 N·m (22 in-lbs) |
