Installation Requirements
Kits 55069-11 and 55130-11 require separate purchase of one valve stem (Part No. 43157-83A).
Kits 40900025 and 40900070 require separate purchase of one valve stem (Part No. 40999-87).
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for this year/model motorcycle is required for this installation. One is available from a Harley-Davidson dealer.

Kit Contents
Each kit contains one wheel and these instructions.
INSTALLATION
WARNING
Harley-Davidson recommends the use of its specified tires. Harley-Davidson vehicles are not designed for operation with non-specified tires, including snow, moped and other special-use tires. Use of non-specified tires can adversely affect stability, handling or braking and lead to loss of vehicle control, which could result in death or serious injury. (00024d)
1.
See the service manual. Inspect tire and wheel. Install tire to the wheel. Balance the wheel and tire assembly.
2.
Remove seat per the service manual.
WARNING
To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause death or serious injury, disconnect negative (-) battery cable before proceeding. (00048a)
3.
See the service manual. Disconnect negative battery cable.
4.
Engage parking brake.
NOTICE
When lifting a motorcycle using a jack, be sure jack contacts both lower frame tubes where down tubes and lower frame tubes converge. Never lift by jacking on cross-members, oil pan, mounting brackets, components or housings. Failure to comply can cause serious damage resulting in the need to perform major repair work. (00586d)
5.
See service manual. Position jack to lift rear of motorcycle.
6.
Before lifting motorcycle, loosen four lug nuts in a cross-wise pattern.
7.
Lift rear of motorcycle with jack.
8.
Remove lug nuts. Pull wheel from axle flange studs.
9.
Install new wheel and tire assembly on axle flange studs. Start four lug nuts.
NOTE
Each time a rear wheel is installed, the lug nut torque must be checked within 800–1,600 km (500–1,000 mi).
10.
Tighten lug nuts to 122–135.6 N·m (90–100 ft-lbs) in a cross-wise pattern.
11.
See the service manual. Connect negative battery cable.
12.
See the service manual. Install seat.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Chrome parts must be maintained regularly to keep their original shine and luster.
  1. Clean heavily soiled wheel surfaces using Harley-Davidson WHEEL & TIRE CLEANER, applied with a Harley-Davidson WHEEL & SPOKE BRUSH.
  2. Thoroughly clean chrome with a good quality chrome cleaner, such as Harley-Davidson CHROME CLEAN & SHINE.
  3. After cleaning and polishing, seal the finish with Harley-Davidson GLAZE POLY SEALANT.
