This instruction sheet refers to service manual information. A service manual for your year/model motorcycle is required for this installation. One is available from a Harley-Davidson dealer.

Disconnecting spark plug cable with engine running can result in electric shock and death or serious injury. (00464b)
PREPARE
1.
Remove main fuse. See service manual.
2.
Remove seat. See service manual.
3.
Remove fuel tank. See service manual.
REMOVAL
NOTE
Remove cable by pulling on rubber boot only. Do not pull on cable or damage can result.
Pull and twist simultaneously to remove rubber boot.
1.
See Figure 1. Remove cable retainers (5).
2.
Disconnect boots (1-4) from coil.
3.
Disconnect boots (1-4) from engine using HD-52006 (Adjustable Spark Plug Wire Puller).
4.
Remove spark plug cables.

INSTALLATION
1.
See Figure 5 Apply dielectric grease (5) to the insides of the coil (A) and spark plug boots (B).
2.
NOTE
Incorrectly installed spark plug cables lead to poor engine performance due to lack of spark to one or both cylinders.
See Figure 1 and Figure 4. Route and connect new spark plug cables.
3.
Refer to Table 1. Install new cables retainers (4).
4.
NOTE
Spark plug cable or cable clip should not make contact with fuel tank.
See Figure 2. Install right rear cable clip (1).

Attach clip to coolant line.
b.
Route spark plug cable and loosely tie down cable.

5.
See Figure 3. Install right front cable clip (1).

Attach clip to coolant line.

Route spark plug cable and loosely tie down cable.

6.
Adjust spark plug cables and tighten cable straps.
COMPLETE
1.
Install fuel tank. See service manual.
2.
Install seat. After installing seat, pull up on the seat to verify that it is secure. See service manual.
3.
Remove main fuse. See service manual.
