Installation Requirements

WARNING

Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)

PREPARE

NOTICE

This device is sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD). To prevent damage to the device, always touch the motorcycle frame or a grounded surface before handling. (00588c)

1.	Remove seat. See service manual.
2.	Disconnect negative battery cable. See service manual.
3.	Remove and discard right side cover. See service manual.

REMOVE

1.	Figure 2 If equipped with ABS: Disconnect ABS connector (4).
2.	Remove cable straps (3).
3.	Remove side cover mounting stud (2). Save for later use.
4.	Remove screw (1).
5.	Figure 3 Remove ABS module (3) with bracket.
6.	Remove screws (2).
7.	Remove and discard bracket (1).

INSTALL

1.	If equipped with ABS: a. Figure 4 Install new bracket (1) to ABS module. b. Install screws (2). Tighten. Torque: 10.8–13.5 N·m (96–119 in-lbs) c. Install ABS module (3) with bracket. d. Figure 5 Install screw (1). Tighten. Torque: 10.8–13.5 N·m (96–119 in-lbs) e. Install side cover mounting stud (2). Tighten. Torque: 8.1–10.8 N·m (72–96 in-lbs) f. Install cable straps (3). g. Connect ABS connector (4).
2.	If equipped without ABS: a. Figure 6 Install new bracket (3). b. Install screw (1). Tighten. Torque: 10.8–13.5 N·m (96–119 in-lbs) c. Install side cover mounting stud (2). Tighten. Torque: 8.1–10.8 N·m (72–96 in-lbs)

1.	If installing Screamin Eagle Ohlins Rear Suspension kit, do so at this time.
2.	Figure 1 Install new side cover (1).
3.	Connect negative battery cable. See service manual.
4.	Install seat. See service manual.
