Installation Requirements
Separate purchase of CCI #20 BRAKE GREASE (42830-05) is required for the install of front brake pivot pin.
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:
PREPARE
1. Remove left saddlebag. See service manual.
2. Remove left side cover. See service manual.
3. Remove main fuse. See service manual.
4. Drain front brake system of Department of Transportation (DOT) 4 fluid. See service manual.
5. If equipped, remove left and right mirrors. See service manual.
REMOVE
1. Remove clutch lever assembly. Discard pivot pin retaining ring. See service manual.
2. Remove left hand control module. See service manual.
3. Remove clutch control. See service manual.
4. Remove right hand control module. See service manual.
5. remove front brake master cylinder. See service manual.
INSTALL
1. See Figure 1. Install new left hand control module (9). See service manual.
2. Install new clutch control bracket and mounting hardware. See service manual.
3. Install new clutch switch (11), switch cover (10) and screw (8). See service manual.
4. Install clutch lever.
NOTE
If reusing Original Equipment (OE) lever, use new retaining ring (Part No. 11615), purchased separately.
5. Install new right hand control module (2). See service manual.
6. Install new front brake master cylinder (3) and mounting hardware. See service manual.
7. Install front brake line to master cylinder using new washers (4). See service manual.
8. Install front brake lever.
a. Apply brake grease to pivot pin before assembly.CCI #20 BRAKE GREASE (42830-05)
NOTE
If reusing OE lever, use new retaining ring (Part No. 11615), purchased separately.
COMPLETE
1. If equipped, install left and right mirrors. See service manual.
2. Fill and bleed brake system. See service manual.
3. Install main fuse. See service manual.
4. Install left side cover. See service manual.
5. Install left saddlebag. See service manual.
6. Verify proper operation of the following:
a. Electrical operation of all hand control switches.
b. Clutch lever and clutch lever switch.
c. Front brake lever.
d. Brake light switch.
e. Front and rear brake systems.
