1. | Remove windshield. See service manual. | |
2. | Remove air duct cover and air duct bezel. See service manual. | |
3. | Remove air duct vane assembly. See service manual. | |
4. | Remove left and right speaker grilles. See service manual. | |
5. | Remove outer fairing. See service manual. | |
6. | Remove headlamp. | |
7. | See Figure 4. Release wire locator (1) and route headlamp wire (8) out of inner fairing assembly (3). | |
8. | Disconnect two main harness connectors (7). | |
9. | Draw branches of main harness out of inner fairing through openings in fairing bracket. | |
10. | Remove inner fairing support screws (5). | |
11. | Remove inner fairing mount screws (2). | |
12. | Raise the inner fairing assembly (3) off the inner fairing mounting bracket (4) and remove. | |
13. | Place fairing on non scratch surface. | |
14. | Remove and discard steering head nacelle. See service manual. |

2. | Remove and discard OE front brake calipers. See service manual. a. Draining brake fluid from front brake reservoir will be required. | |

4. | Remove and discard OE front forks. See service manual. | |
5. | Remove handlebar assembly from handlebar riser. See service manual. a. Support handlebar assembly as needed. b. Protect vehicle finish from handlebar disassembly. | |
6. | Remove handlebar riser from upper fork stem bracket. See service manual. | |
7. | Remove and discard Steering Head/Fork Stem and Bracket Assembly. See service manual. | |
8. | Remove and discard OE steering head bearing cups. See service manual. |
1. | See Figure 1. Install steering head bearing cups (21). See service manual. | |
2. | Install new lower and upper fork stem and bracket assembly from kit. See service manual. | |
3. | Install handlebar riser to upper fork stem bracket. See service manual. | |
4. | Install handlebar assembly to handlebar riser. See service manual. | |
5. | Install Screamin Eagle Ohlins Inverted Fork Legs (Part No. 45400392 or 45400393). See instructions in that kit. Refer to Installation Requirements. | |
6. | See Figure 5. Tighten fork stem assembly pinch screws. a. Tighten lower fork bracket pinch screws (5, 6) alternately (top fastener, bottom fastener, repeat) until specification is maintained. Torque: 19.7–24.4 N·m (15–18 ft-lbs) b. Tighten upper fork bracket pinch screw (2). Torque: 19.7–24.4 N·m (15–18 ft-lbs) | |
7. | Frame-Mounted Fairing Vehicles: Install steering head nacelle from kit. See service manual. | |
8. | See Figure 6. Install fork tube covers from kit. a. Align cover (1) with holes in fork (3). b. Install screws (2). Tighten. Torque: 5.9–6.5 N·m (52–58 in-lbs) |
