Installation Requirements
WARNINGRider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:

These items are available at your local Harley-Davidson dealership:
- Separate purchase of an Engine Guard Kit, (Part No. 49000284 (chrome) or 49000285 (black)) is required for this installation.
PREPARE
NOTE
Installation of Engine Guard Kit (49000284 or 49000285) is required prior to installing this Road Glide® Fairing Support Kit.
| 1. | The following step should have been completed during preparation and install of the Engine Guard Kit referenced above: a. Remove outer fairing. See service manual. |
INSTALL
| 1. | See Figure 1. Position right fairing support (1) onto NEW engine guard in correct position. a. Install original upper screw and washer to secure bracket to fairing. Hand tighten only. b. Position clamp (3) around engine guard, hand start screws (4) to secure clamp to bracket. c. Confirm support assembly is concentric on the engine guard. d. Tighten upper clamp fastener first to close gap between clamp and support. Torque: 4.5–5.6 N·m (40–50 in-lbs) e. Tighten lower clamp fastener. Torque: 4.5–5.6 N·m (40–50 in-lbs) f. Tighten upper bracket fastener to fairing. Torque: 5.4–6.8 N·m (48–60 in-lbs) | |
| 2. | Repeat steps for left fairing support (2). |
COMPLETE

| 2. | Install fairing lower kit following instructions included with that kit. |
