Installation Requirements
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for the year and model motorcycle is required for this installation and is available from:
These items are available at your local Harley-Davidson dealership and prior installation is required:
  • Road Glide models: Separate purchase of a Fairing Support Kit, (Part No. 47201044 (polished) or 47201045 (black)) is required for this installation.
  • All models: Separate purchase of a Fairing Lower Engine Guard Kit (Part No. 49000284 (chrome) or 49000285 (black)) is required for this installation.
NOTE
This Fairing Lowers Kit will not fit with CVO® Road Glide® lower fairings. These must be removed to use this kit on vehicles equipped with this style lowers.
PREPARE
1. If installed, remove original radiator shroud. See service manual.
2. If NOT previously installed, install Fairing Lower Engine Guard Kit following instructions provided.
INSTALL
1. See Figure 1. Locate left hand media storage compartment (10) and screws (3) from kit.
1.1. See Figure 2. Install LH media compartment (2) onto engine guard (1) with screws (3). Tighten.
Torque: 5.1–6.2 N·m (45–55 in-lbs)

2. See Figure 1. Locate left hand inner lower fairing assembly (8) and screws (5) from kit.
a. See Figure 3. Install inner lower fairing assembly paying attention to engage the vent door fork and pin as shown with the pin positioned outboard in the assembly.
c. Verify proper vent door operation. When lever is positioned outboard, vent door should be closed. When lever is inboard, vent door should be open.
2.2. See Figure 4. Install left inner lower fairing (2) onto engine guard (1) with screws (3). Tighten.
Torque: 5.1–6.2 N·m (45–55 in-lbs)

3. See Figure 1. Locate grommet (9) from kit.
a. See Figure 5. Install grommet (1) into engine guard mounting tab (2).
b. Verify that all 5 grommets are secured in place.

4. See Figure 1. Locate left outer lower fairing (11) from kit.
a. See Figure 6. Install outer lower fairing (1) mounting posts into grommets in inner lower fairing (2) from outboard toward vehicle centerline making certain to engage all 5 mounting posts into grommets.

5. Repeat all steps for right hand lower fairing.
a. Install right inner lower fairing forward of the left inner lower fairing at the center fastener location.
6. See Figure 1. When left and right hand installation is complete, install plastic fastener (6) from front to rear to secure the center of both outer lower fairing arms.
a. Install radiator debris deflector (7) by inserting top tabs into left and right inner fairing lower and inserting lower clips until they click into the retainers.
OPERATION
1. See Figure 7. The fairing lower vent doors can be adjusted to direct airflow for rider comfort. Rotate the vent door lever inboard to adjust each vent open, or outboard to close each vent door.
NOTE
For best results in warm weather conditions, begin with vent fully open then adjust for desired airflow.
a. Adjust: With the vehicle parked, grasp the vent door lever and rotate to the desired position.
