Installation Requirements
WARNING
Rider and passenger safety depend upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-Davidson dealer perform the installation. Improper installation of this kit could result in death or serious injury. (00333b)
NOTE
This instruction sheet references service manual information. A service manual for your model motorcycle is required for this installation. One is available from a Harley-Davidson Dealer.

PREPARE
WARNING
When installing any electrical accessory, be certain not to exceed the maximum amperage rating of the fuse or circuit breaker protecting the affected circuit being modified. Exceeding the maximum amperage can lead to electrical failures, which could result in death or serious injury. (00310a)
NOTICE
It is possible to overload the vehicle's charging system by adding too many electrical accessories. If the combined electrical accessories operating at any one time consume more electrical current than the vehicle's charging system can produce, the electrical consumption can discharge the battery and cause damage to the vehicle's electrical system. (00211d)
NOTE
Running amperage should be 2 A.
1. Remove main fuse. See service manual
2. Remove seat. See service manual.
3. Remove components. See service manual.
a. 2009-2013 models: Right saddlebag and side cover.
b. 2014-2016 models: Left and right saddlebags and side covers.
c. ALL Trike Models: Side covers.
d. FLRT models: Fuel tank and wire troth cover.
4. See Figure 1. Remove right side mid-frame deflector (1), if equipped. See the service manual.
a. Remove self clinching nut (3) from frame.
NOTE
Use a drill or hammer and punch.
INSTALLATION
With Mid-Frame Deflector (if equipped)
1. See Figure 1. Install two spacers (4, 5) on inboard stud of fan assembly (6).
2. Install one spacer (4) on outboard stud of fan assembly (6).
3. Position bottom of mid-frame deflector onto outboard stud of fan assembly (6).
4. Install fan assembly to frame.
5. From within the battery tray area, install washers and nuts (2). Tighten.
Torque: 6.8–8.1 N·m (5–6 ft-lbs)
6. Install hardware to secure top of deflector to frame. See service manual.
Without Mid-Frame Deflector
1. See Figure 1. Install one spacer (4) on each stud of fan assembly (6).
2. Install fan assembly to frame.
3. From within the battery tray area, install washers and nuts (2). Tighten.
Torque: 6.8–8.1 N·m (5–6 ft-lbs)

Switch
1. See Figure 7 and Table 1 Install fan switch.
a. 2014-2016 Fairing models: Install switch panel (4) and accessory switch (8). See service manual.
NOTE
Install the switch panel (4) in the left side of dash panel. The accessory switch (8) should be installed in the far right slot of the switch panel. Add switch blanks (9) as needed.
b. 2009-2013 Fairing models: Rocker switch is already installed from factory.
c. 2009-2016 Road King: Toggle switch is already installed from factory.
d. FLRT models: Require separate purchase of fan switch (715522-08), fan label (14001100) and nut (74408-08A).
2. 2015-1016 FLRT models:
a. Locate 4-way connector [67A] inside wire troth near right side of steer head wire exit.
b. Remove cap plug from right side of nacelle. Discard.
c. Install fan switch (8) from back.
d. Install fan label plate (9).
e. Secure with nut (10).
f. Mate fan switch connector to vehicle connector [67A] of main harness.
g. Make sure harness is secured sufficiently in order to avoid any limitations in dynamic movement.

Harness 2009-2013 Models
1. See Figure 3. Locate Parts and Accessory connector [4A] 4-place Deutsch (1) (Black) under seat.
2. Route connector from CoolFlow fan and connect to connector (1) under seat.
3. Secure harnesses with cable straps provided.

Harness 2014-2016 Models
1. See Figure 4. Locate Parts and Accessory connector [4A] 8-way Molex (1) (Gray) under left side cover.
2. See Figure 5 and Figure 6. Connect vehicle P&A connector (1) to fan relay harness connector (2).

NOTE
Do Not route harness over the vehicle frame.
Route harness into battery box area.
4. Connect CoolFlow fan connector to fan relay harness connector (4).
5. Secure harnesses with cable straps provided.

COMPLETE
1. Install side cover and saddlebag. See service manual.
2. FLRT models: Install wire troth and fuel tank. See service manual.
3. Install seat. After installing seat, pull up on the seat to verify that it is secure. See service manual.
4. Install main fuse. See service manual.
5. Perform operations check on fan switch.
OPERATION
NOTE
Verify that fan is turned OFF before starting the engine.
Operating the fan after reaching 40 mph will not increase comfort level for the rider or passenger.
The CoolFlow fan is a manual switch operation. Either ON/OFF.
  • Recommended ON setting: Manually turn on at speeds below 64 km/h (40 mph)
  • Recommended OFF setting: Manually turn off at speeds above 64 km/h (40 mph)
